The NHL needs to crack down on this BS

On November 7, 2024, Los Angeles Kings forward Tanner Jeannot received a three-game suspension for an illegal check to the head of Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser during a game on November 6. The incident occurred in the second period when Jeannot delivered a high hit, resulting in Boeser leaving the game and not returning. The NHL’s Department of Player Safety reviewed the play and issued the suspension, citing the dangerous nature of the hit and Jeannot’s prior disciplinary history. This suspension sidelines Jeannot for upcoming games against the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Seattle Kraken.

  1. Three games?????? No previous history? Artem Zub of the Senators just returned after missing nine games from a Jeannot head shot. Hockey purists will maintain that was a good hit, but, there is no question, it was a direct blow to the head. That one on Boeser was predatory and there are no mitigating circumstances. Should have received 10 games. He got zip on the Zub hit so no lesson learned.

  2. I don't watch hockey anymore because of incidents like this. I think it's a garbage sport when stars get injured by average players and the league does very little about it. I think the NHL is a big joke. I think it's the only sport that changes the officiating in the playoffs too. Cross checking, slashing….all that stuff is allowed way more in the playoffs. That's why you don't see the good teams or the star players shine in the playoffs most of the time. It's a scam of a league with the dumb officiating that takes place.

  3. A sucker blind shot !!!
Not too mention interference with the entent to injury!
    10 games minimum.
If it's only 3 games ! Fire the head of player safety! A let Bettman know that his job maybe next!

  4. I have a fun rule for the nhl: What if upon a suspension if it is deemed worse than a five gamer the player who hit the other player can’t come back till the other guy is no longer injured

  5. I dont follow either team. I just don't see head contact there. The hit was intentional but it doesn't seem like it was an evil hit. I've seen the Rangers do way more things without getting penalties than what this video showed.

Either way, hope the injury isn't serious and they are back soon.

  6. Can we talk about how close Boeser’s head/neck came to the other Kings’ player’s skate blades? If that player hadn’t had the reflex of moving his foot back it could have gotten way worse. Same hit.

    Edit : grammar

  7. This is a horrible play, suspend as long as Boeser is off. Not saying Boeser has had a concussion, but he’s looks far and away..

Just a quick story. I have had concussions, one of them with a bleeding under the skull bone. I had postconcussive syndrome for a long time. at that time

I lost my memory, lost feeling in different parts of my face and neck. Got severe headaches, attacks of dizziness and so on. It took me eight months to get back ok with my life. Stayed inside most of the time but made short strolls around the neigbourhood in the beginning.
A simple thing like going to the grocery store two blocks away became an all day project due to these complications and the dizziness (like a rocking boat) End of story.
    Hope Boeser is OK.

  8. A dirty, unnecessary play by Jeannot! A suspendable offense in my opinion? Tanner, is a marked man, next game, against Vancouver guaranteed!

  9. Oh too bad Jeanott isnt a Leaf, only way hed get a deserved suspension. Bunting got 3 playoff games for something not nearly this bad. Jeanott gets 3 regular games.

DPOS dartboard of justice strikes again.

Don't get me wrong, Bunting 100% deserved his, I'm just saying Jeanotts was worse and he got less. He should have gotten 10.

  10. pens fan here, so i have no horse in this race.

very dirty, predatory hit with intent to injure imo. not a good look for LAK. suspension should definitely be more in the 5-10 range.

the game is getting faster, and thus, more dangerous. this is not a matter of "players don't know how to roll a check" – this is headhunting. the league needs to hold these players accountable
