GTA Football – Las Venturas Bandits vs Vice City Mambas
The Grand Theft Auto National Football League (GTANFL) is a professional American football league that consists of 24 teams, divided equally between the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). The NFL is one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada and the highest professional level of American football in the world. Each GTANFL season begins annually with a four-week preseason in August, followed by the 17-week regular season, which runs from early September to early January, with each team playing 16 games and having one bye week. Following the conclusion of the regular season, six teams from each conference, including four division winners and two wild card teams, advance to the playoffs, a single-elimination tournament, which culminates in the Super Bowl, played in early February between the winners of the AFC and NFC championship games.
The Las Venturas Bandits are a professional baseball team based in Las Venturas, San Andreas in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Their home stadium is the baseball-specific Las Venturas Bandits Stadium, which is located in the Redsands West district of the city. The Bandits are implied to be rivals with the other San Andreas baseball teams, the Los Santos Saints and San Fierro Packers. The Bandits are most likely based on the Las Vegas 51s, Las Vegas’s real-life baseball team, although they play in the minor leagues. The Bandits’ use of gold, circular logo, and their font is loosely based on the Oakland Athletics, who, in real life, played a few season games in Las Vegas in 1996 while the Oakland Coliseum was being renovated.
The Vice City Mambas are Vice City’s football team in the 3D Universe of the Grand Theft Auto series BJ Smith and José Pimsoll used to play with the Mambas. In the mission Two-Hand Toss in Grand Theft Auto Advance, protagonist Mike has to injure a Mambas quarterback to improve the chances of the Liberty City Cocks to win, under orders from Asuka Kasen. Their home stadium is Hyman Memorial Stadium in Downtown, Vice City, Florida.
The Vice City Mambas are Vice City’s professional football team; first mentioned in Grand Theft Auto Online, and due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI. The football team was first mentioned in the Los Santos Tuners update in Grand Theft Auto Online, which featured a sponsored livery with new branding, named “Mambas 24”, available for the Vectre. Branding for the Mambas can later be seen in the Grand Theft Auto VI September 2022 leaks. Banners advertising the team and bearing their slogan can be seen hanging outside Fleeca Field in Rockridge, Vice City, their presumed home stadium.
