  1. I don’t like to rip the refs often but they managed the fuck outta this game. Missed call on Hughes off the first draw then call a pen on him. A few borderline icings, missed calls on us then a borderline call for the Oilers.

Thought the first 2 periods we played some good hockey suffered a couple bad bounces, then the Myers pen (good call) just gave the Oilers everything.

  2. Not sure what the point of signing all these giant defensemen was if the other team can just get every loose puck around the net with zero trouble.

  3. Tbh I had a bad feeling about this game with Sprong and Boeser out. I know Sprong had his issues but he had energy and speed that was difficult for teams to handle. Aman isn’t going to be able to drive the play as much. Dunno, there were a ton of issues at the tail end of that game and it’s difficult to pin it on one thing.

I hate Drai so much ever since he nutted Höglander in the playoffs (and is known to do it constantly – how does he get away with it??)

Sidenote: I hope Tocc + team can straighten out our D. I want to see them take the body more and throw some hits down low.

Edit: correction. Drai didn’t sack Hög it was Derek Ryan, I stand corrected.

Drai is still known for it, though: https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/s/dsTNYqq8xR

  4. Big takeaway for me was the fact Pettersson looked really good tonight. Great offensively and defensively, saved a goal against, created plays and had that shot I remember. Hope the result of this game doesn’t have an impact on him (I doubt it).

Sure refs weren’t great but when you lose 7-3 calls won’t do much. Still frustrating to watch though when you do something that’s called and they do the exact same thing and it goes uncalled. You also should play the full 60, you can’t play the third like that.

Lankinen was iffy in the net imo. Some incredible saves, some things he should’ve saved but didn’t like the 7th goal.

    Oh well, onto the next.

  5. The offseason moves weren’t great, outside of Sherwood. People say Zadorov isn’t good in Boston, but he was good here. The Canucks should have given him the extra year he wanted instead of spending on Vinnie, Forbort, and Sprong.

  6. There was only so much Lankinen could do when our defense skated like they had bricks for skates and always lost track of their man.

Irritating to lose against Edmonton like this but whatever.

  7. End the 11F/7D experience.

Get me off the Desharnais ride, I’m done with it.

JT Miller needs a maintenance day, guy looks flat. In fact, seemed like the travel caught up to the team bad in the third.

    No more Aman.

Refs need some glasses, especially when watching 97 & 29.

Pettersson….let’s hope this is the return 🤞🏽 I’ll take a horrible loss if this gets him going.

  8. What happened to the weirdo ChatGPT bot that was commenting in the GDT? 🤖I need to know their post-game analysis LOL

  9. Let’s let The Oilers sweep us in the regular season so we can go to the finals this year 🙂

  10. Honestly, I’m just so happy to see some vintage Pettersson and I’ll huff that copium all the way to the next game 😮‍💨

  11. Desharnais is fully womp at this point. But, man was this a fun time until the 3rd. I’ll never say playing the Oilers isn’t the most chaotic rivalry we have.

  12. Wow we singed Vinny! He’s so big out there.

Can he skate or play a defence? No.

But he’s big! And that’s all that matters. Or so I’ve been told.

  13. You can say anything about Goaltending today. But it’s very hard to win a game with 16 shots on target through 55minutes…

  14. I was confused as hell tonight, I usually am up to date with the lineups but today I was like, I swear I saw Hronek, Myers, Desharnais, and Juulsen already… So are we running 2 LHD??? and then realized that we were running 7 d men tonight after I saw Huggy, Soucy and Brannstrom.

Would love to hear anyones opinion on why this decision was made, and whether or not you agreed with it beforehand??

My opinion is that: sure we are short-staffed without boes, but does that along with the threat of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl warrant enough to put out 11-7, which is something we haven’t done all season. I understand that Tocc is trying to implement a system into the players subconsciousness, so it should work with whoever you are out there with. But it is hard to believe that shuffling the forward and defense lines can do good against our biggest current rival and one of the two stanley cup finalists from last year… it just seems baffling to me. As the home team couldn’t we shelter a line of Aman, Raty, and Bains?? so that every single forward line and D line could stick with their guys??? I have NOT lost faith in coaching at all, I am just a little confused on why something this drastic would be experimented with against the Oilers of all teams.
