Wemby when asked if he’s turned a corner on his 3pt accuracy: “I don’t think there’s really a corner to be turned. That’s not how progression goes. I’m not going to be shooting 66% in my career, but I’m also not going to be shooting 25%… We don’t want to overreact in one way or another.”

  1. I soooo love how level-headed Wemby is, especially for someone who is effectively still a kid. Amazing.

  2. Wemby has such a good mentality. He’s so mature for a 20 year old and he seems to handle adversity well. These traits will be important if we ever make a playoff push in a few years

  3. 20 year old Kid is like way more mature than so many people in the sub and podcast bros lol. I love his attitude so much.

  4. wemby not only speaks better english than half the league, he also grasps english idioms better than a lot of americans

  5. He really does not talk like a 20 year old! Dude freaks me out!!!! Like why is he answering like a 4-5 year NBA vet?

  6. I wish some of the Spurs fans were this levelheaded. They’re still experimenting. As was communicated many times before, Wemby doesn’t just want to camp in the post. He wants to see what he can do all around the floor and the organization has been very supportive of this decision. Thus far, Wemby has taken fewer shots per game compared to his rookie season, and he’s taking more 3’s. It looks like they’ve done a bit of a role reversal from last season where now the other Spurs are expected to attack the paint more and the results have been looking pretty good. In the first 10 games they’ve won 1 more compared to last season, but in much better news, they hadn’t been blown out by 30-40 within these 10 games compared to last season. This is going to take some time

  7. Kinda of tired of just reactionary takes in general. A lot of people just see the trees and miss the forest and a lot of that is permeated by the culture that we live in. We live in a world with instant gratification and we tend to forget that Rome wasn’t built in a day. Good things take time. It’s called a slow roast for a reason and you best believe once it’s done its fall of the bone type good.

  8. Very level headed and mature far beyond his years.

Let him keep developing his game… when we’re contending there’s not gonna be a lot of room for mistakes and experiments. The time is now to do those. Fire away Wemb. 😉

  9. Imagine if being this mature at 20 was normal… the future of the world would be so bright. He has such good parents and role models.

  10. They did this level of experimentation with Sochan at the point last year. Some of the results were seen this season with Jeremy, as he became more aware of his passing options and improved massively as a facilitator from the PF position. The idea was never for Sochan to become a point forward. This is the same for Wemby, the idea is not to develop him into a 3-pt threat, just to have another tool in his bag to be able to punish in multiple ways. The moment he reaches 33/34% defenses are gonna start respecting his shot and things will open up down the post.
