ESPN lists Rangers among top suitors for Juan Soto

> Texas wasn’t happy with a 2025 repeat attempt that fell far short of aspirations, and after the offense took a big step back, the Rangers were left wondering which young players are for real. Soto would give them another slugger around Corey Seager and Marcus Semien, and he is actually still younger than some of the hitters Texas is waiting to see develop. One big weakness for Texas was an offense that ranked 26th in OPS against right-handed pitching: Pairing Soto and Seager would undoubtedly alter those numbers for the better. We’ve seen the Rangers dole out big long-term deals to hitters before — the only problem this offseason could be another year of monetary restrictions due to the lack of local television revenue.
I would absolutely love to have Soto, but the Rangers are going to go cheap to operate under the competitive balance tax next season. There’s just no way they are getting Soto. And I don’t think there’s any way the Yankees let Soto get away either.
We don’t even have a TV contract
Maybe everyone else will forget to offer a contract?
How would the Rangers add Soto but cut $20M in payroll for next year (as they’ve said they’re going to do).
Would be fascinating, but probably not.
I’m sorry guys, but the Rangers are not signing Soto. He’s already said he doesn’t want a deferred contract like Ohtani, but still wants $700 million. We would have to sign him to like a 16 year contract, and trade away Seager, deGrom, and Semien in order to go below the luxury tax and get him. It’s just not gonna happen.
Besides, Walcott is gonna be better than Soto anyways, so who cares? /s… unless??
This has musings of A-Rod all over again
And so the Soto Sweepstakes begins. I’m already tired of it lol
A rod all over again
We won’t get Soto keep dreaming
ESPN needs those DFW clicks since no one cares about the Cowboys this year.
He ain’t worth the kind of money he’ll get. Dude is already declining on defense and he’s only 26. If the Rangers are gonna take another big shot in FA, there are probably wiser options over the next few years.
Please no. Can’t stand him, talented bat or not.
Not gonna happen. They are going to reset the CBT.
You guys are setting your expectations WAY too high, and I’m already not looking forward to the griping on this sub when he signs somewhere else.
Ray Davis has spent more than any other owner in Rangers history. Seager, Semien, deGrom, Eovaldi, Jon Gray, Andrew Heaney, they’re all guys that cost varying amounts of big FA money.
We are not the Mets, and we shouldn’t try to be. Hamstringing yourself with too many big contracts isn’t a guarantee you’ll win titles. Trust in CY and make use of the guys we currently have making big money. Juan Soto is a generational player but will not play for the Rangers, and that’s okay.
lol
Nah, I don’t think we’re going to do diddly in the bats department. Nor do I feel like we need to. We’re gonna drop some pitching. Sherzer’ll go, Eovaldi, I’d guess Heaney. I doubt we drop deGrom though. For publicity reasons as much as others, really. I say 2025 line up looks like deGrom, Rocker, Dunning, Gray and ???. We’ll trade for a starter or two and a couple more bullpen arms.
That’s my best guess.
I’d prefer money to be spent on pitching anyways.
hah
ESPN just out here sayin anything
Nah I don’t think he’s a good fit for the clubhouse tbh. Plus, too expensive
We just need to move the team already. Move it to a different city or state. Arlington is the worst. That’s why the stadium is empty.
I am okay with not getting him.
LOL PSSSFFFshhht hahahaaaaaaaa Yeah right
No way that happens – Rangers organization has made it clear their intentions this offseason.
Nice wishful thinking, but we don’t have the kind of cash that’ll attract his attention. Things aren’t going to be much different than last winter. We’ll peck around the edges and hope to find a diamond in the middle of a bunch of crap. Thats what we can afford.
