Breaking: Pelicans Lose Zion Williamson As Team Implodes
The New Orleans Pelicans have no luck at all this season. Zion Williamson is now out indefinitely with a hamstring injury which puts 80% of the Pels starting 5 on the shelf. In the brutal West, is it already time for them to start looking ahead to next season? And what silver lining can be found in the draft? Trevor Lane takes a look….

i thought Pelicans have lakers 1st round pick this year also ?
They are also going for Cooper Flagg . They did the same when Anthony Davis and Zion were the number one pick
He still heavy he still needs to lose some weight causing heavy injury
WOW. What a surprise. Zion is hurt, again.
good for brandon boston to get a chance to break out
So missing at the end of last season and the start of this season. Must suck to be a fan of this team
They should have never gave Zion that contract
how ironic the guy they refuse to pay is the only 1 they can depend on funny how the universe works
might as well blow it up if you're the pels…its just not working…zion is never healthy…just sell high on zion when he's healthy and playing long enough to get value
Trevor, great analysis. Here's a suggestion. When you're showing those tables of the players, their contracts and salaries, please move your thumbnail of you talking from the lower left corner to the lower right so we can see more of the player names. We'll still see you, but you'll only be covering up the salary numbers for 2028-29 or 2029-30. Thanks.
Ingrams worst nightmare; to still be a Pelican!
Kind of reminds of the Spurs before the Duncan sweeps. They lost All Starters. In fact, some people screamed fraud!
Pelican need to trade everyone and chase the flag
Brandon Boston Jr played great last game (26 pts and 6 rbs) and he's shooting 39% from 3 and 51% overall.
They should send BI back to us. They are wasting his talent there.
The other 20% they are trying to get rid of!
Zion is a bust. He's a back up at this point
B.I. is definitely the #2 best player on the Pelicans or at the very least tied with Dejounte Murray.
The Basketball God wants the Pels to give B.I max contract and make him stay or else why Zion and newly Dejounte?
Can Pelicans trade Dejounte Murray?
Zion cant catch a break
No he is not too heavy he came into this season slim and trim. The guy is just a natural unit.
I feel bad for the Pelicans. They are consistently getting bad news with injuries.
Right on cue really sad
Trade Zion.Emough.
Hopefully Zion won’t end up being the next Kawhi Leonard. 🙏
Lost that weight but still CAN'T ESCAPE! SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN SHAPE, BUT TOO MUCH YOU ATE, IM AFRAID MY FRIEND, IT MAY BE TOO LATE, YOU'VE BEEN INJURED THE WHOLE TIME, AND THAT SEALS YOUR FATE☠⚰
Unfortunately, no team will shell out future draft picks for BI. If there was one, it would have happened last off season already. He's oft injured and a good 3rd best player and not a max-type player he is seeking. Besides, are there any contending team that's below the tax apron that will be willing to trade good young players + picks for Ingram? There's none.
Get well soon Williamson 🙏🏽
Trade BI to Minnesota for Julius Randall. Trade J Hawkins to Portland for Robert Williams Center. We would be under cap and get more size. J Randall is on the final year of his contract. Portland has too many centers. These trades help all teams involve.
Depending on what you get for a BI or CJ the tear it down route could be best.
Probably got it from sneezing at the buffet
The gods are telling pels to rebuild lol
That’s what they get, they had plenty of years to trade him
I am Zion biggest fan but I am done this time. Can’t stay healthy, recover slower than everybody in the game, sit on the bench more than on the court , major disappointment.
The dude is always injured.
Zion Williamson, Ben Simmons, and Joel Embiid are what's wrong with the NBA.
Everyone the Pelicans may want to trade is injury prone
What? Zion is injured? I’m shocked.
Is this breaking news at this point? Or just the same news as always just a new season. I was expecting some type of lower body injury before AS break.
Old heads sitting back laughing like i keep telling y’all these new nba players aren’t built like they were
he's done bro, same shit every year
this is why the durability & longevity of the 40 year old LeBron James needs to be appreciated a great deal 💪💪💪
No one in New Orleans wants to trade Ingram over Zion. This dude doesn’t understand the new salary structure. There will be multiple teams looking at CJs expiring big number.
