Sano takes day 3 and it wasn’t close. Day 4 could be tricky

  1. I’d say Emilio Pagan. He had an AWFUL 2022 campaign and everyone was calling for him to be DFA’d all season. Surprisingly though, he came back next season and he was actually solid. I don’t know if it was enough for him to be a “great” reliever, but it was definitely a breath of fresh air after his whatever we got in 2022.

  2. Gary Gaetti. Real bad his first couple seasons, had three great season in the middle which included 1987, and was ok the last couple seasons before leaving in free agency.

  3. Travis Miller’s first game was a start against Texas where he gave up 7 runs in 1 inning. He ended up being a decent low-leverage reliever.

  4. Doug Mientkiewicz – Batted low .200’s and saw limited action from 1998-2000. Won an Olympic gold medal in 2000, a Gold Glove in 2001 and was a .300 hitter by the time he was traded from Minnesota in 2004.

  5. Trevor May – depends on whether we wanna say he ended “OK” or “great,” but the way he started is about as bad as it gets – 3 hits, 7 walks, 4 earned runs in 2 innings against the A’s in his MLB debut. It was a tough watch.

  6. I’ll mention Carlos Santana as a possibility, assuming that the team doesn’t resign him. He started the season 4-41 with only one extra-base hit, a double. The rest of the season, he played at 2ish WAR pace, with decent pop at the plate and above-average defense for a team that barely eclipsed the .500 mark. It’s weird to think about anyone this past year as having “ended OK” but perhaps he’s the sole exception.

Pagan is also a great option though

  7. Baseball has that magic of surprises and moments like these keep us on the edge of our seats!!! I can’t wait to see what Day 4 brings
