Credit to Mr. Rowland for pulling the data.

I think we all rightfully assumed the pairing would be better but it’s probably time we adjust our expectations for Onyeka as a starting center.

  1. Yeah I like OO but he’s looking like a career backup at this point.  Which is fine, considering his contract.  It’s not fine in terms of where he was drafted, but Travis Schlenk did silly things sometimes.  I would be game with drafting a 7+ center prospect next draft, or, depending on where that Lakers pick lands, maybe we could trade both of picks after the season for an established stretch 5 that can also guard the perimeter and defend the paint.  I don’t know who that guy is, but it’s a nice thought.

Either way Landry put us in a good spot with that Dejounte trade, I definitely think those assets can turn into the center we need.

  2. a little early still to know if this pairing is bad, and I believe there is data from last season counter to it.

We close out with JJ and OO, but since our roster has low depth and plays at a high MPG, we have had several fourth quarters in which the team gets run off the court.

  3. I’d look into trades. Run with Capela-Nance for the rest of the year. Think we can definitely get value for him.

  4. I love big O, but I’m starting to think he might be the way we get out of the Hunter contract

  5. To be fair, this data is also being taken while we play Keaton Wallace, Roddy, Garrison, and other guys that aren’t cut out for rotation minutes.

  6. It’s probably time you adjust your expectations of Jalen Johnson’s defense more like it

  7. I need to see a large sample of lineups that are some variation of Young, Daniels/Bogi, Hunter/Risacher, Johnson, and Okongwu before I’m ready to give up on him. The bench is currently terrible and Jalen and Okongwu playing with some deep bench guys (which I’m assuming is the context of most of these minutes) doesn’t tell us if Okongwu can actually anchor a starting lineup.

  8. OO plays without Trae more frequently. Our offensive rating drops by 15 points when Trae sits
