[Andrew Baggarly] Giants Hitting coach appears headed to the Texas Rangers

Rip 30 home run seasons in Texas
Hitting coach is Justin Viele. He has another year on his contract with SF and was invited back.
This tweet is from a Giants Athletic writer. I haven’t seen any Rangers reporters on this, so I’m wary if it’s a done deal or anything.
Skimming Giants fans responses (they’re ecstatic to see him go), I’m not sure how to feel. Viele burned sage in their batting cages for instance.
On the other hand, Viele and Ecker were the hitting coaches for the Giants in 2021.
The 2021 Giants led the National League in homers, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, intentional walks, pitches per plate appearance, stolen base percentage, and pull percentage.
Maybe Viele is a guy who couldn’t do it without Ecker. I’m sure Bochy and Ecker wanted this guy for a good reason.
Ehh, not too sure about this if true. But I’ll stay optimistic!
The last time the Rangers hired a former Giants coach, it worked out pretty well for us….
I had assumed Ecker would essentially pick the next hitting coach. Hopefully, they work as well together here as they clearly did in SF.
Bummer if true
Bummer
Can’t be worse than this year.
Does his strategy lean more towards contact or power?
