Possible future ace for the Angels?

Jack Kochanowicz is someone that I am extremely excited about for next season, probably more so right now than any other pitcher currently on our staff.

In his first 2 starts in July, he went for a combined 7 innings, and gave up 11 runs, 3BB and his WHIP was 2.43 and a 14.14 ERA.

After that he definitely got himself into a groove, started 4 games in August, pitched a combined 25.2 innings, had 7ER, 4BB, 7K’s and a 1.13 WHIP and a 2.45 ERA.

Fast forward to September and he started another 5 games, pitched 32.2 innings, gave up 11ER, 3BB, 13K’s, had a 0.98 WHIP and a 3.03 ERA.

Overall, he started 11 games, pitched 65.1 innings, 25K’s, 3.99 ERA, 10BB and a 1.19 WHIP…

Personally, I was impressed with him, he’s only 23 years old, and in my opinion, will prove to be incredibly relevant for this Angels rotation going forward.

Baseball season cannot get here fast enough!

  1. Nah that would be Caden Dana. Kochanowicz needs to miss more bats just to go from being a back of the rotation to a mid-rotation guy.

  2. Look at his innings pitched, then strikeouts, then innings pitched, then strikeouts again. What the hell is that K rate lmao.

That said, dude is just weird. He’s a total anomaly. He’s a groundball merchant’s CEO. I think he can be successful with what he’s got. But his ceiling is basically an inch above his floor.

  3. I would bet that Kochanowicz is the other kid in the rotation besides Soriano next season. He’ll be a #4 guy and that’s honestly not bad with how efficiently he pitches. He’s just not an ace.

  4. Kochanowicz ceiling is Kyle Hendricks which isn’t what you want in a future ace. His xERA was a run higher than his actual ERA last season which means he was very lucky. If you don’t miss bats, that luck will eventually get you

  5. According to Sam Blum the Angels have no plan for anything so why bother talk about anything? /s

Kochanowicz was surprisingly decent for just another “shitty Angels prospect”, I wouldn’t say he can be an ace but definitely believable as a #4 or 5 guy in a rotation for next year IMO.
