Twins Decline Mutual Option On Kyle Farmer

  1. “The Twins still have Willi Castro and Austin Martin on hand as utility options behind Brooks Lee, Carlos Correa and Royce Lewis. Minnesota will need to address first base with Carlos Santana hitting free agency and Alex Kirilloff’s surprise retirement.” Where Miranda? u/darthmaultrek

  2. I wasn’t even aware there was a mutual option in his contract for next season, I figured he was headed to free agency outright. Well, in the end it doesn’t matter because that was the end result. I liked his attitude, but while he had a good year last season, this season wasn’t so pretty. Hope he gets things figured out and hooks on with another team.

  3. It was obviously coming and he was clearly not the same player he was the year before, but he will be missed. He seemed like a pretty solid dude and clubhouse guy. Good luck to him, I bet he catches on somewhere as a util guy.

  4. The man has legendary lore with the Twins. That was an incredibly bold move to guarantee the playoff victory. That’s a bold move anytime, but when you consider the twins playoff history prior to that, that took some cajones, some testicular fortitude, some GOD DAMNED BALLS and yet those very same huevos hatched us not just a win, but a postseason series victory as well.

My hope is that he gets picked up by the White Sox, only because it’s our best chance of blowing out whatever team he joins so he can take the mound against his old teammates. Whether it’s himself or one of our players, he’s going to make somebody look absolutely ridiculous with that beautiful eephus pitch.

Slowpitch softball pitches often come in faster than Farmdawg’s precisely located 36 mph masterpiece. Even though he’s in to pitch because his team is getting absolutely donkey punched by the Twins, I can see that being one of the highlights of the year for not only Farmer, but whichever Twins he gets to face, battling his old buddies for an inning or 2.

Good luck Mr. Farmer. You’ll be a great addition to whichever clubhouse you end up in. (Just don’t sign with the Yankees for any reason… The guarantee gives you a lot of wiggle room with us, but it does not grant immunity from joining the ranks of the Sith.)

  5. With this and Margot, at least they’ve made the correct no-brainer decisions. Let’s see what happens when they have to make the tougher ones.
