Is Gleyber Torres A Good Fit For The Toronto Blue Jays? Blue Jays Rumors/Free Agency
We are back with another free agent episode. There have been multiple reports linking Gleyber Torres to the Toronto Blue Jays. It’s no secret the Blue Jays struggled offensively, and Gleyber Torres could be a relatively cheap option that would immediately bolster this lineup and provide some stability at second base. Going after Gleyber Torres would be a massive boost to the batting order, but could come with some inconsistencies defensively. Do you want Gleyber Torres to sign with the Blue Jays this offseason? To end the episode, we go over scenarios for the outfield if Daulton Varsho is not available for opening day. We have also started to raise money for Movember and encourage you all to help in any way you can, as mental health and suicide are very important issues in our society.
Your current Toronto Blue Jays roster: Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Bo Bichette, Kevin Gausman, Jordan Romano, Alek Manoah, Yariel Rodriguez, George Springer, Jose Berrios, Chris Bassitt, Justin Turner, Daulton Varsho, Alejandro Kirk, Joey Votto, Erik Swanson, Leo Jimenez, Davis Schneider, Ernie Clement, Spencer Horwitz, Chad Green, Jake Bloss, Genesis Cabrera, Bowden Francis, Joey Loperfido, Orelvis Martinez, Ricky Tiedemann, Zach Pop, Addison Barger, Nathan Lukes, Aaron Sanchez, Cutter Coffey, Will Wagner, Dillon Tate, Tommy Nance, Jonatan Clase, Steward Berroa

He would fit perfectly, since the Blue Jays always have a dire shortage of middle infielders, right? 😉
There's probably a way to make Gleyber fit, although there are greater needs for the Jays that resources would be better spent on.
Since the Jays don't have an established veteran second baseman, Gleyber could start the season there. (Assuming the Jays start the 2025 season with Bo.) One of the young middle infielders becomes trade fodder to bolster the bullpen or whatever. If the Jays are out of contention at the trade deadline, Bo gets traded and Gleyber shifts over to shortstop. If they miraculously extend Bo, Gleyber is fine at second. What would it take to sign Gleyber, who wants to be a Yankee for life?
I think we'd all prefer Kim, but I can see Torres fitting. There are better long term options in other positions though.
A Long term second baseman could be worth waiting for.
Arraez, Albies (likely to opt out), Lowe, Edman and IKF are all FA next year.
Fielding matters it's just not the most important thing…. And no thanks to Torres. I'd rather they use Horwitz or Wagner at 2nd
