I would love to see him back in some fashion. I know Benson credited him for how his hitting improved in 23.

Here’s a different take on this. This team has practically given up. The only positives this pr team can spin is the team’s past. We see it all the time on their social media. There is nothing good in the present or for this team to highlight. So, to the past, it is.
We all love Votto. Of course, I want him involved. But as what? I don’t see him on staff. He’s a freebird now. Do they want him to just hang around? He sorta does that now… I think I’ve seen him fieldside a few times.
Every article we read about Votto is an article that isn’t about the pathetic state of affairs in the front office.

Dude definitely needs more money from the Reds.

The Reds shot their shot with Votto. It didn’t work. $240mil & not a single playoff series win over 17 yrs. Votto’s contract did not deliver. Not even close.

He’s the smartest hitter I have ever watched play. I’m sure he can coach.

Joey is exactly the kind of hitter that Tito wants his team to emulate. The young team was better in 2023 when he was there to advise them. They will be better if he is there in 2025 and the future as a hitting coach.
Never should have let him go, should have made him player/manager
