New Orleans Saints Darren Rizzi Implemented Change, Let Klint Kubiak, Derek Carr Cook

New Orleans Saints Interim Head Coach Darren Rizzi led the charge for Klint Kubiak, Derek Carr and Marquez Valdes-Scantling to be put in the best positions to success. How changes on the offense were all about playing to the team’s players’ strengths over all else. Alvin Kamara was included with more outside runs, outside targets and a big chance downfield.

Joe Woods simplified things on defense allowing players like Chase Young, Tyrann Mathieu and Demario Davis were among the defensive pieces to play to their strengths as well. Rizzi’s aggressive nature translated through the team as a passionate and fun team to watch for the first time in weeks. A much needed shift of mentality for the team.

  1. I love Coach Rizzy and I like the ring to that. I really hope that the Saints make the right decision when they’re looking for a head coach because believe it or not we may already have our next head coach coaching the team. I believe that.

  2. Do not get all excited about Rizzi. The win was pure luck, how many times did Atlanta field goal kicker miss. They can not count on missed field goals to win. That dropped ball by Kamara could have, and in this case, should have cost NO the game. So Rizzi gets lucky win, a win he and the Saints actually did not deserve. They were beat like a drum all game and just got a couple of very lucky breaks. Field goals at the distances he kicked from are rarely missed. Receivers need to make sure they catch the ball before they take off. I am 72 years old, I have been a Raiders fan since I was 12. Derek Carr made me a DC fan and intern watching the Saints turned me into a Saints fan too. I am going to have a real delima when the Saints play the Raiders. I love them both. I got hooked on the Raiders watching George Blanda come in as QB, run the 2 minute drill and either score a touch down or kick the field goal himself to win the game. I think they won 7 of their games that year with a comeback with under a minute on the clock. May have been more games than that. Hooked me on the Raiders. I root for them both each week. Has not been a problem till this year because they did not play each other. On that day I am going to have a split personality. I have never been to a Saints game. I wish I could I would love to watch them and feel the excitement of the stadium, but on a fixed income and the last 4 yrs of inflation has made my money very tight. I have attended 2 Raiders games in Miami where I lived for 30 years, but never a Raiders home game. That was in my bucket list but that got scratch off due to finances. I Retired to southern Alabama since I could not afford to retire in Miami, would had to work til I died to stay there.. still hoping to some how manage to see a Saints home game.

  3. Obviously it could’ve been another 50+ yards and likely a TD for Carr this game as well had it not been for the uncharacteristic drop from Kamara. Considering all this team has gone through with injuries and coaching, I think they played really well.

  4. For those who want to play for a higher draft pick, what position are you hoping for the highest possible pick? If it’s QB, I would guess that there’s only 5-10% chance any QB picked in the first round would be better than Carr over the next several years.

  5. I will say that I liked that Derek was hooking up with new receivers, and for some long balls too. The offence needs to just get healthy, but the defence is a big problem. There giving the QB all day to find a receiver. If you give NFL QB's that kind of time, they will inevitably eat your defence for breakfast and spit them out. Rizzi is not going to cure the defence. Sorry, to many are to old, past their prime, defensive players. Cam's performance is no where near his peak performance even when he is 100% healthy. He is not the only one on the team either. It's time to shed the old skin like a lizard and replace it with new. Need to clean house, and bring lightning fast speed and strengh on the defence. Sadly, this year is a loss cause other than playing to be a spoiler for other teams. Rizzi is NOT the answer, time to court Jon Gruden seriously !!!!! THE TEAM LOOKED THE SAME AS IT DID UNDER DENNIS, WEAK AND MAKING TO MANY MISTAKES. THE ONLY REAL FIX IS PERSONAL CHANGES ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL. OUR OFFENSIVE LINE AND DEFENSIVE LINE ARE BOTH WEAK one can't rush the QB at all and the other can not stop a rush consistently to defend our QB. Rizzi is not going to get lucky every game this season, and there are only one or two games that he can hope to win without some luck. I wish it was different, but it is what it is.😢

  6. Carr making unknown and forgotten receivers shine again. Rattler and Haener would've had us blown out. I want to see the return of Erik McCoy. Hopefully he plays next week at Cleveland. A split second more for Carr and he can light up any defense without a number 1 WR. That's the reason why the Saints paid him.

  7. Marquez Valdes- Is the new shahid Rasheed
For the Saints. Carr looked like he did in the first two games of the season. Carr was
    Smooooooth!!!!!!
Veterans are the cure all for the Saints.
From this point forward just keep adding veterans!!!!!!

  8. That hit that Will Harris come up and delivered to Tyler Allgeier set the tone. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen that RB knocked backwards in a Saints game.

  9. Rizzi is right, all phases did well.
Without Granderson, Chase Young and Cam Jordan had clutch sacks.
Honey Badger with a late game int.
Carr with long passes do Valdes Scantling.
    T. Hill with some action without injury.
AK holding the ground (tho bad drop).

Let's keep the momentum and hope some guys come back, our center especially.
We wont score a lot, so defense must play for their lifes.
