And yes I know these list are little substance.

  1. don’t have too much of a problem with 1-3 being above Corey, just depends on the year and how healthy they are (2024 Corey I would have in 3/4, 2023 Corey is 1st even with his injury). Unless this list is heavily biasing age, I don’t see any reason to put Elly above Corey. Sure he’s fast and has better range but he’s significantly less productive on offense than Corey’s worst seasons and is remarkably error prone on defense. 0 reason to have him above Corey unless they’re just saying “Corey old, Elly young”.

Realistically Corey has a WS MVP, none of the other 1-3 do, and that’s the only metric I care about.

  2. Given that Seager is tied with Lindor in age (30), and the majority of the remaining shortstops are in their early twenties (excluding Turner) I’d say this list is pretty fair.

Seager was playing with half a body and still put up 5 WAR and great defensive metrics (OAA, DRS, UZR) this year.

Without even looking this up I imagine Corey is slower than every guy on this list by a wide margin. Because of Corey’s speed, I think being right in the middle is fair for this year.

Now that Corey got his surgery early, and will actually have a spring training, he can be fully healthy going into 2025. I think he still has another good year or two at SS.

Most of Seager’s poor SS performance stems from his time with the Dodgers. As a Ranger, he’s had great defensive metrics every year. I’m sure being partnered with one of the best second baseman in the league helps a ton.

  3. This is just a low effort WAR ranking list, with one or two players moved so it looks like it isn’t.

  4. Elly over him is just ridiculous. I have no problem with Seager at 4th with those other guys ahead of him though

  5. I think Henderson is a great batter and a sub par fielder. These positional rankings are always interesting to me. You have to account for defense in my mind

  6. Hold up I didn’t even see Neto being at 7? Nah this lost all validity right there💀😂

  7. Seems odd to me that Corey isn’t higher. And I love elly as a player but I wouldn’t put him above Corey

  8. I hope Neto can be traded to a good team. It’s hard to see so much talent wither and die on the vine in Anaheim.

  9. Corey is a 2x World Series MVP – he should be in the top 3.

MLB wants Elly to be a star so badly & he may be one, but that’s just insulting man. I would put Trea up higher, but what do I know.

Is this purely based on fielding or also offense?

  10. 1. A healthy Seager is worth way more. But, the way the cookies have crumbled the past few years he’s right where he should be.

    2. Trea Turner at 10?! Thats the one that is completely wrong.

  11. Hard to argue based on last year alone. The guys ahead of him had outstanding years and other than lindor, are significantly younger
