GAME RECAP: Penguins at Capitals (11.08.24) | Karlsson, Malkin Record Multi-Point Games

The Penguins played the Washington Capitals, with the two teams featuring the NHL’s first and third stars of the week: Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby. The Penguins started off strong with a snap shot from Erik Karlsson. Michael Bunting keept the momentum flowing with a second goal only a few minutes later. With two unanswered goals, Sandin took his opportunity and scored, making the game 2-1 in favor of the visitors at the end of the 1st period. Kicking off the next 20 minutes, Mangiapane earned the Capitals a goal to tie up the score, which remained for the rest of the period. At the halfway mark in the final frame, Evgeni Malkin helped the Penguins take a 3-2 lead. After the Capitals pulled their goalie, Noel Acciari took advantage to seal the deal for the Penguins, making the final score 4-2.
