[Camras] Shohei Ohtani has been named a finalist for the NL MVP award. He’s up against Francisco Lindor and Ketel Marte. Ohtani is already a two-time MVP winner in the AL. Just 11 players in MLB history have won three MVPs. Only Frank Robinson has won the award in both the AL and NL.

Mookie probably wanted to fight the bozo on the Royals who broke his wrist.

  2. It honestly blows my mind that he was able to post a 9+ WAR season while rehabbing and being unable to contribute on the pitching side.

Thought he was gonna settle for a 5-7 WAR season and miss out on finishing top 3 for MVP at the beginning of the season.

  3. The other guys to win it 3x:

    Jimmie Foxx (AL, 1932, 33, 38)

    Joe DiMaggio (AL, 1939, 41, 47)

    Stan Musial (NL, 1943, 46, 48)

    Yogi Berra (AL, 1951, 54, 55)

    Roy Campanella (NL, 1951, 53, 55)

    Mickey Mantle (AL, 1956, 57, 62)

    Mike Schmidt (NL, 1980, 81, 86)

    Barry Bonds (NL, 1990, 92, 93, 2001-04)

    Alex Rodriguez (AL, 2003, 05, 07)

    Albert Pujols (NL, 2005, 08, 09)

    Mike Trout (AL, 2014, 16, 19)

  4. Lamar Jackson 🤝🏾 Shohei Ohtani

Winning your 3rd MVP the same year you win your first title.

  5. What the hell, I love marte and he was the whole team for a good stretch but I mean, he missed a lot of games right?

  6. Another accolade no one has mentioned yet, he’s going to be the fastest player since Stan Musial in 1948 to win 3 MVPs by number of seasons (3 wins within first 7 years to start a career).

Which is crazy given the first 3 years of his relatively short career so far were injury plagued, and 2022 was a runner up year too.

  7. Had no idea Ketel Marte had a season that was MVP worthy. Feel like I didn’t hear about much at all

  8. I’m not trying to sound like a homer here, but what is the defensive equivalent to a 50-50 season so we can measure up Lindors defense accurately?

  9. I don’t even know why they listed finalists. We all know who’s winning and he will be winning it every year until he retires. The award will then be named after him.

  10. Ohtani is def gonna win ofc.

Nice to see Ketel being a finalist though, I was worried the injury late in the season was gonna prevent that

  11. There is no FINALIST….The voting has already taken place and these 3 guys are the top 3 vote getters .It is already determined…And I am sure Ohtani won but they simply have NOT ANNOUNCED the winner yet.

  12. I get that the trade-off is worth it because of how incredible he is, but it kinda sucks that there will only be one MVP race for the next half-decade at minimum. And that’s not even to mention all the weirdos who will hold certain players’ lack of accolades against them when considering HoF candidacy.

  13. Ohtani would be worth more if the Dodgers had given Roberts an IQ test before they hired him.
No reasonably intelligent person- where you clearly have the league’s best hitter ….and you make a batting order where the 2 guys in front of him have lousy OBP. Roberts does NOT know how to make a batting order….but you win anyway if you just have a payroll higher than your competitors AND their managers are almost as stupid as Roberts.

  14. You know it sucks to see the Brady/Messi/LeBron era start to (somewhat) wind down after not appreciating it all in the moment but I’m really not gonna be ignoring how cool it is to get to see the Ohtani and Jokic era right now. These are athletes on another level than what we already thought was like the best someone could be at their sport

  15. Why has it been nearly a month and a half since the end of the regular season and we don’t know who the MVPs are yet?

Do they plan a black tie Ballon d’Or type ceremony where Bobby Witt Jr throws a fit and doesn’t show up upon learning he’s not the winner?
