2. The Astros have been focused on power and HR for about 10 years. It's time to get some situational hitters. We need RBI's and stop leaving so many runners on base. Way too much focus on launch angle and exit velo. How about location?

3. I like Bagwell when he talks about batting. He's a career 300 ave with a 400 OBP. He says location is way more important than exit velocity. A slow roller through the gap is always better than a 105mph line drive out to third or SS. Way too many batters are straight-pull hitters, and pitchers know it.

4. Jim Crane needs to stop depending on old “retired” players for their expertise. Time to go back to real experts in decision making.

7. Generally agree, but the hitting philosophy is the domain of the coaches. This philosophy of swing early swing often is garbage.

11. Coaching is a factor in players performance, so it’s more subtle than just teaching technique. Some coaches just have the “it factor” that compels players to outperform while other coaches don’t have that innate ability, which, imo, might explain the miserable start to the 2024 season. The Astros had injuries, true. They had issues with a roster that included some players who just weren’t performing as expected, which affects the whole team morale and that again is a reflection on the coaching staff. Bottom line, the Astros underperformed in 2024. That is a direct reflection on the inability of the coach to get the most out of the players. That metric is a coaching metric, alone.

12. It was always going to be Chas and Meyers because they have no other options. Stuff like this is what I wanted them to avoid. Stuff like this is why I'm so critical of this organization. They didn't get into these situations under Luhnow. Though to be fair he wasn't there when the key players started leaving. But I like to think he or Click if left to their own devices would have had better drafts and players to put into these roles. So when you have a chas who failed spectacularly last year or Meyers who's always been terrible, at the very least you have a younger one who might be better to take his place.

13. To get something going i think it might have to be trade made to get the farm system going. Presly and Framber are the rumors Abreu and Monterro anddd mcccullers are also hurting the team

14. The era is over… no farm system with limited trade options and free agents not willing to come to houston…it's time to hit the reset button. Trade the good pieces to get top prospects , tank for a couple of years.. the Astros will be back on top.
