Another major shakeup to the Seahawks' inside linebacker corps: I'm told they plan to release Tyrel Dodson, who's started all nine games this season

  1. Even as someone who was low on Dodson the whole time this is surprising. But vindication from how obviously bad JS fumbled the lb room in the offseason. I wonder if some lockerroom shit happened

  2. Dodson hasn’t been great all season but I thought the move to WLB would allow him to better play to his strengths and hide his weaknesses. Dodson is our current green dot so I’m curious if Jones or Love takes on that role. Wonder if there were any outside factors (non play related) that led to this.

  3. Man I had some blind optimism this last offseason. Nothing crippling depression won’t fix

  4. Straight up?? Wow.

Mike’s a LB guy. For us to get rid of not one, but the TWO starting LB’s from week 1 speaks volumes.

Gotta say. I’m loving this new era of accountability. Give it time y’all!

  5. This move is surprising but exciting at the same time. I’m assuming this means it’s Tyrice Knight time?

  6. Good. Horrible player. Out of position and lost on every play.

Our LB corps was always gonna be patchwork this season but between Baker’s injuries and Dodson’s untenably bad play (plus the acquisition of Ernest Jones, who I presume will be extended) was too much. At least with Jones you have a guy that can be a foundational piece in there but the rest woof

  7. I was optimistic about the LB signings but obviously they didnt work out and were looking back they were lottery tickets at best. Glad they aren’t just digging their heels in and switching things up here. He was bad and looked like he was actively seeking out blocks sometimes instead of pursuing the ball carrier

  8. thats insane! release though? was he that bad???

the Ernest Jones grade from the Rams game was encouraging enough but to release Dodson?

  9. Shout out to all the homers a month ago that were vigorously defending Baker and Dodson in the face of overwhelming evidence that the two simply were not good at their jobs.

  10. People really must not remember the roster churn from Pete’s first couple of years. We brought in low cost veteran linebackers to plug holes in the roster. If they weren’t cutting it, or younger guys were stepping up, there’s no loss in cutting them (assuming we tried to trade them before the deadline and no-one bit.)

  11. Reddit needs.to Stop relying on PFF,.and trust the NFL .

If a FA makes $$$,.he’s good…..if signs for avg, he bad.
Brooks is better.tha. Baker and Dodson…period.

  12. This is what happens when you can’t stop the damn run. Both new starting LB’s didn’t make it to week 11. See ya!

  13. One of the few players on this team I really like outside of the context of football. I love the work he was doing at the Children’s Hospital and he felt like he actually had real personality in his press conferences. It’s a shame it didn’t work out on the field for the Seahawks, I selfishly hope he clears waivers and ends up on the practice squad but I know that’s not going to happen.

    Good luck TDot!

  14. So does Ernest get the green dot now? I hope so. From what I’ve heard of him and what he said at his press conference he seems like he would be a good leader to have on D.

  15. Dodson casualty resulted in Jobe’s elevation from the PS to the 53 man roster. The number of PS elevations for Jobe expired.

  16. for me i guess i didn’t realize how bad Dodson and Baker were playing until we traded for Jones midweek and he came in first game looking like The Waterboy

  17. I think this was the plan the entire time when they made the trade for jones… think they’d rather give knight some pt and experience and cut ties with the older guy who isn’t apart of future plans and let him try and find a job elsewhere, makes sense… think this says they’re gonna actually rebuild

  18. Glass half full reaction is that Mac has sway over Schneider, and they actually don’t have a fantasy about the playoffs this year. Which is a good thing. Progress doesn’t happen if you think you’re better than you actually are of if you think you can fix a player that can’t be fixed.

My other thought is that this happened because Mac is pleased with what he’s seen out of Jones and wants to build around him. Defense had a decent game for the first time in weeks against the Rams
