Damn I didn’t realize Kirk had been getting hit that much. Our O-line has been getting praise this season, at least I thought it was.
He doesn’t roll out lol
If it’s not open and his progression is slowed causing him to hold the ball longer unlike the others he’s getting sacked. Because outside of that one run where he almost housed it he lacks shall I say escape ability so yeah he’s either getting sacked of at the very least hit.
Honestly oline has been good minus occasional misteps literally. Kirk cant move and goes through his progressions so it leads to more hits.
Doesn’t scramble and isn’t afraid to stay in the pocket and take the hit. COULD maybe subscribe to the Matt Ryan school of “Tuck and don’t fumble” when you’re about to get sacked.
Kirk has had some really great moments, but he will not move when the pocket breaks down. You’d think he’s doing a YouTube challenge “Watch me play QB WITHOUT MOVING!” Zac also loves the YouTube challenge “Watch me call plays from the PISTOL FORMATION ONLY!”
Gotta be concerning going against a Broncos pass rush that leads the league in pressures.
That’s kinda on him tho. Dude refuses to move out of the pocket most times. Like even Ryan who was a statue would move a little side to side
Kirk is a statue in the pocket. This isn’t accurate
Kinda surprised with all that scrambling he does. /s
The OL has been medicore against the pass rush. Around 17th ranked by the metrics. Kirk doesn’t take a ton of sacks because he throws the ball fast/away.
on that list he has the fewest throws rated “poor” under pressure/hurries with 29. Jones has 37. Rodgers has a whopping 57. CJ Stroud 54.
it’s O Line slander to imply this is the result of bad protection. kirk has made a career out of staying in the pocket and throwing as the walls close in. as part of that, you’re going to get hit a lot. he’s a grown up and knows what he signed up for.
J. T. O’Sullivan feels that pass pro schemes should never permit your QB to be hit – permitting free runners and relying on a quick throw etc. the logic being obviously that every hit the QB takes is a gamble on your season.
if we accept that there is truth to that, kirk’s pure pocket passing style is a liability for the team. we have a top tier O line holding up their end of the bargain, but kirk is still getting hit more than Joe Burrow – who is *known for taking late hits due to poor protection.*
then when you consider that kirk’s only solution to avoiding sacks most of the time is to force throws, yeah – it’s no wonder he makes so many turnover worthy throws and has a 30% lead on fumbles over the 2nd highest guy.
He doesn’t move AT ALL. The sack where Jake Matthews got pushed into him was frustrating to watch. Jake had to be pissed.
He has the tendency to hold on the ball too long and seems to think he’s faster than he is when does move
