2011 team started 8-5, 6th seed that year was only 9-7. Had no business losing to Oakland, Miami, or Denver. It all went to hell in 2011, after that regime looked so promising. That 8-5 collapse was when the team truly fell apart, even with the prior AFC title choke job.
