Would be a pretty impressive add for BC hockey. More and more of the sports top prospects are choosing the ncaa route, it would be a great addition to have that talent playing in our backyard.

  1. The football team had a terrible time in div2 NCAA, not sure where SFU would fit in, and what tier.

Was there ever any resolution as to the random end to the football team a couple years ago?

  2. This has been a very well kept secret for a while now, that’s why there is a non-conference roster primarily made up of BCHL players

That being said, pay attention to your UBC Thunderbirds with 2 former draft picks! Wicked hockey!!!!

  3. SFU has been trying to get into NCAA Div 1 for years. They were previously in probationary NCAA Division 1 status in 2016 and 2017 seasons. Its one of the reasons they are trying to build stadiums because thats one of the requirements for Div 1 status. (at least for football). Not saying they wont get into the NCAA but I wouldn’t hold my breath for it.

  4. I doubt it, SFU is broke AF. I was working at summer camps there this summer and was told we didn’t have money for hula hoops 💀

  5. It could potentially work for NCAA Div 3, but to become a Div 1 hockey university, that would take a lot of investment, not to mention a proper rink and training facilities to become NCAA div 1 level.

  6. Just won’t work with the fanbase. I don’t support it as I went to Capilano. Always was told things about SFU but never really looked into it. I do know me and all my friends in our area were pretty much the best in hockey around, and we all didn’t go to SFU. So they’re starting on the back foot. Even after I graduated, pretty sure my area is Capilano heavy and we are very, very good.
