I'm guessing goggles aren't "cool" anymore, so instead, I'm assuming AD would rather keep getting poked in the eye than wear sports goggles.

But players like James Worthy and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wore goggles after being poked in the eye themselves.

  1. Feeling uncomfortable perhaps. The accumulated sweat inside the goggles will be really irritating.

  2. I think he said it was disrupting his vision which i can see. Wearing goggles could be annoying for his peripheral vision

  3. Because he’s called “The Brow” and the glasses would block his money makers

  4. He doesnt like how they fog up. Which is a valid complaint tbf, glasses wearers unite

  5. Unless you wear glasses off court, then it’s a huge adjustment both vision and comfort wise. Rip Hamilton’s number one advice to anyone who asks him how to get used to wearing a mask is to have it on as much as possible and never take them off once the game starts.

  6. All the arguments against are bullshit. I’m sure they have goggles with non-fogging technology or some bullshit at this point

  7. Why? From someone who would wear them while playing, they’re uncomfortable as hell and negatively impact my game.

  8. If he wears goggles he won’t be able to take himself out of games after he gets hit in the face.

  9. At $62M/year, Lakers should get him some functional yet ‘fashionable’ pair of specs.

Even some from the Kurt Rambis style would be great to see.

  10. I mean, that question should apply for every big man or anyone who dives into the paint. And people don’t because it’s not a comfortable gear to wear, and it does mess with your senses a little bit. I’m sure he can get used to it, but I can understand why it’s a last resort

  11. Never played with no prescription goggles. But my prescription ones in high school were god awful. Depth perception was off, it got foggy, etc. I switched over to contacts so quickly.

  12. So I wear goggles for Bball. Yes it takes a lil to adjust, but if you get clear ones you don’t lose peripheral vision. They never fog up. For the money he makes, for the amount of money Lakers spend… I’m sure they can come together and get him some really nice custom goggles. Protect your damn asset…

  13. Am I the only one thinks him not wearing a goggle isn’t a problem but maybe the opponents should stop fucking gauging his eyes?

  14. I bet its because he don’t wanna be looked like a nerd or something new insult bozos will want to call him.

  15. That Reggie Jackson guy wears goggles and I believe scoot does too. I wonder if it fogs up for them or not

  16. Goggles can impede your vision to a noticeable degree. It would stop him from getting poked in the eye, but it might also affect his touch or his jumper, which is obviously not worth the trade off.
