CTB has allowed the most yards in the NFL

  1. CTB can’t cover a double move for shit. It’s being exposed because outside of Trey, we also suck at pressuring the QB.

  2. This is crazy to me, last year before his injury he was having a Pro Bowl caliber season. After he got burned vs. the Commanders and ran his mouth before the game, he turned into Eli Apple…

Really hope he can turn it around, I think there’s something mental going on with CTB.

  3. So disappointing. It seemed like he had so much potentential in the beginning.

Edit: I still don’t think it’s 100% him. Shitty communication, shitty coverage across the entire D line, and shitty coaching just highlights his flaws.

  4. Can we get a new corner pleasešŸ™ This has to be the priority next to signing Chase in the off-season

  5. Feeling like CB will be a high pick in the draft. Hope the situation also improves once Dax is back.

  6. I had such hope for him going in to this season. We need a new secondary coach. Two years of these guys underperforming and being confused

  7. i donā€™t know where he went wrong really, had loads of potential, locked up dk metcalf and the bills in the divisional now heā€™s just a standout as one of the worst players on a horrible defense.

  8. The fall off needs to be studied. Felt like he was getting better every year leading up to this season.

  9. If we donā€™t see some improvement from these recent picks then I imagine weā€™ll be seeing a ton of free agent defensive signings and a defense heavy draft. Have needs everywhere outside of Trey Hendrickson, Mike Hilton, and the linebacker room.

  10. The guy gets no help either. When a team’s safeties and DB’s all play poorly, it makes them even worse. Besides Trey we have the least talented defense in the NFL.

  11. As bad as it is this is a league wide issue. The shield has taken the physicality out of the game. There is no more bump and run. Receivers are not being jammed off the line. The need to get a receiver off his route at the line of scrimmage is an afterthought.

The league has no more shut down corners in the game anymore. If you watch any highlights of any catch down field you’ll notice that either the defensive back gave the receiver a clean release, the defensive back has his eyes in the backfield thus not paying attention to the Z,X or Y, hin and the safety are not on the same page or the defensive back is in the trail technique and never got his head around. It’s an epidemic of bad coaching on the defensive side of the ball and a clear lack of fundamentals from guys who have inherited the game.

That being said CTB could shore all of this up if he would stop letting the receivers run free down field and at the top of their routes. He needs to get hip to hip and get his head around. In cover 0 and cover 1 this has to happen or you give up too many yards. This goes for Hill, Turner, Hilton, Battle and every other DB on their roster. The league took away the toughness of being on the island and making sure the corner made his presence felt. CTB has to adjust and get back to fundamentals. If not then he’ll continue to decline and become a really bad corner.

  12. We have a lot of CB2 type of players in the secondary. CTB, Turner, Newton, and Hill are the kinds of guys other teams would look to be CB2 or depth pieces. So many key pieces in this roster are given starter roles when they would look much, much better as depth pieces (Stone, Volson, Cappa, Iosivas, Hubbard, Bell).

  13. He can’t pivot in one step. If a receiver suddenly changes his direction, it takes him 4 steps to follow the receiver.

  14. CTB misinterpreted what ‘Cover 0’ means. Now he covers no one, and tackles no one and gives TDs for days.

  15. Heā€™s a CB2 forced to be a CB1 and out pitiful pass rush allows QBs to have 25 seconds in the pocket and provides all the time in the world for long developing routes. Heā€™d prob be fine as a cb2 with a better d line

  16. I’d be curious to see how this compares to time of possession as well. If the defense is spending more time on the field, and there’s no pass rush, you can’t keep someone covered forever.

  17. We can definitely complain about lack of talent on the team and what not, but players massively regress under Lou. He’s an extremely overrated coach.

  18. CTB started looking bad when the whole defense started looking bad. I am not giving up on him quite yet. But yeah he looks terrible this year

  19. And he runs his mouth constantly and celebrates doing the bare minimum constantly šŸ‘šŸ½

  20. Until the defensive line problems are addressed, no one, including coaches, can possibly know what all the Bengals have in regard to LBs and DBs.

The Bengals could have Ed Reed, Ronnie Lott, Champ Bailey, and a host of other all-timers out there in the secondary, and if the defensive line is giving the opposing 4-5+ seconds to throw, and they can’t stop the run either… they’re all gonna look like crap.

  21. He’s always been this guy. He can’t play man, and if he’s in press, teams target him instantly.

The only thing that’s changed is it’s not a secret now. Every oc in the league knows if he’s lined up in press, you throw a 40 yard fade at him every time.

  22. Big suprise. Heā€™s an opportunist. Thatā€™s the strongest part of his game and outside of KC heā€™s done nothing. But he was CB1 of the entire league at the beginning of the season according to this sub. What happened? He never was that good or some fellow Bengals fans donā€™t know football and definitely donā€™t know this organization. Band wagon & Fairweather fans.
