  1. If the yanks are saying durbin is going to be a big part, that would mean jazz stays at 3b and therefore no need for a trade here

  2. He’s been consistently terrible at defense throughout his career, he’s not someone the Yankees want considering how they just lost.

  3. I was about to talk mad shit about his defense until I realized he was actually wasn’t a liability in the field this past year.

  4. Any team should take him. Especially with the uni-DH. He’s just a solid asset and the Phil’s are dumb for trading him

  5. I would do it depending on the price. He makes $8 million next year so he’s a relatively cheap solution at third base, although he has some sub league average years sprinkled into some great hitting years and he’s not a great defender. I would much rather play him than DJ, though.

  6. Alec Bohm has two years of arbitration control remaining.

He’s got significant career splits β€” 135 wRC+ vs. LHP and 91 wRC+ vs. RHP β€” although he managed to be above-average vs. righties this past season. Bohm rarely strikes out, but he also rarely walks. He makes really good contact, which is nice. His .345 xwOBA would’ve been fourth on the Yankees after Judge, Soto, and Stanton this year.

Bohm is a poor baserunner with below-average speed (26.3 ft/s) and low career value (-9.1 BsR).

Defensively, he’s been terrible in his career: -46 DRS and -11 OAA at third base entering 2023. His numbers weren’t that bad this year (0 DRS/3 OAA), but that seems like an outlier. I dunno.

I like the bat for the most part. But meh. I understand why the Phillies are willing to move him.

  7. He went from -17 DRS in β€˜22 which is 2017 Andujar bad to -10 DRS in β€˜23 to 0 DRS in β€˜24 so his defence is actually trending up

I know the ops difference of 150 sounds alarming but in the second half his walk rate and strikeout rate were actually very similar to the first half and he had a ba of .252 so he was still getting hits, he just wasn’t hitting for power. Basically he became a slightly better version of Volpe but with less strikeouts

Edit: he apparently injured his hand in the second half and that led to a decline in numbers

  8. He honestly might be more of an answer for our 1B vacancy, but I just don’t see us having the assets to make this work. Our farm system is pretty well depleted and we can’t really afford to move the prospects we do have. If the Phillies had interest in Nestor or Schmidt, maybe that would be a foundation to make something happen, but I really don’t expect them to have interest in additional starting pitching at the expense of their offense.

  9. Coming off arguably his best season as a pro, with two years left of team control. If they don’t feel like he can repeat or improve those numbers drastically this is the correct move. The definition of buy low / sell high. Plus he’s a Scott Boras client, so you won’t have to deal with that headache. Not a fan of the Phillies, but their organization is well run.

  10. Yankee fan here: I’d take Bregman all day, everyday over him. Enough with the cheating Astros bullshit.

Bregman, Volpe, Torres, Alonso = INF.

    Chisholm, Dominguez, Judge = OF

Don’t think the Yankees will go more than 600/12, but somebody will for Soto.

Get one of the better FA SP’s available and we’ll be just fine for the 2025 season.

  11. Maybe he profiles better at 1B? But Yankees have enough out of position players on the team.

  12. Bohm is good enough defensively now, that he approaches average. He’s also young enough that his career years are ahead of him. Philly wouldn’t be giving him away. Yankees better off taking on bad contracts now that they got this close.

  13. I’d rather see them take a flyer on Arenado or a glove first 3B then trade significant prospect capital for someone like Bohm. Feels like the 3B version of Gleyber.

  14. He’s become a very overrated player bc his first half. U could argue that Riley, Vientos, and Burger are more valuable than him and he’s the 4th best 3B in his division . Phillies are gonna pretend he is the top 3b to get value for him.

  15. If he couldn’t hack it in the Philly media market he’d spontaneously combust in NY. Not good enough for the team.

  16. Solid for the most part bat, poor baserunner, poor defender, doesn’t walk.

We’ve located the person Cashman & Boone will proclaim will get us our first title since β€˜09
