Alperen Sengun’s 27 Points And “Terror Twins” Eason & Thompson Power Houston Rockets Past Wizards

Host Jackson Gatlin (@JTGatlin) discusses how Alperen Sengun’s standout performance against the Washington Wizards, scoring 27 points and grabbing 17 rebounds, has solidified his role as the “engine” of the Houston Rockets. With the “Terror Twins” nickname now officially bestowed upon Tari Eason and Amen Thompson, the dynamic duo is making waves in the NBA. However, the absence of Fred VanVleet highlighted the Rockets’ offensive struggles, emphasizing his crucial role in maintaining the team’s flow and ball security. This episode explores Jabari Smith Jr.’s shooting slump and the potential adjustments to his role, while also celebrating the Rockets’ defensive prowess that held the Wizards to just 92 points. The discussion offers insights into the team’s evolving strategies and key player performances.

  1. It’s frustrating to see that Alperen only gets his sets when the Rockets are on the brink of losing, like in this game against the Wizards. It would be better if his sets were sprinkled in throughout the game. Additionally, the constant substitutions after 5 minutes for Adams prevent him from getting into the flow of the game. They need to change that.

  2. Normally I will watch a win twice but this game was so below NBA standards, I will erase it. This is the year we are supposed to take the next step. But we have no shooting. How is Rafael Stone going to add shooting to this team? Is he going to trade for a shooter? Is he going to draft another 20 year old player out of college and expect him to improve our shooting? Is he going to sign a free agent that shoots? I expect Stone to do nothing to improve the shooting. Then at the end of the year when he is asked why didn't the Rockets make the playoffs, he will say they should have played better.

  3. They tired getting Bari started early on, believe he shot the first 3 shots, 2 plays ran just for him. His shot is a line drive, which is so different from college. He can get 10 a game on post up short jumpers.

  4. There are such bad shooters in the team that they prevent ĹžengĂĽn from making a triple double. Houston Rocket must get a good shooter. You cannot always win matches with ĹžengĂĽn.

  5. Need to start Tari now, we all had high hopes with Jabari but he needs to make open 3's when he is wide open and not drive it and miss. Simple need better % on these open shots.

  6. Give it up with Jabari he isn’t good even if he was shooting like 36% from 3 he still wouldn’t be very good he’s not elite at anything and literally every other young guy has something they are truly elite at. ITS OVER

  7. Yeah it was brutal too many turnovers especially from Jalen. Fred has been awful but at least you can rely on him on not turning the ball over. You can’t turn the ball over like that expect to win against the good teams in the western conference

But Sengun was cooking Sarr he had no idea how to guard him and Tari and Amen what can you say they are everywhere on both ends.

It’s time to start Tari he been impactful with the starters and Jabari hasn’t been getting it done. The defense has been good with Jabari but he useless on the court if he can’t shoot. He suppose to be one of the best shooters on the team and him not making his shots it’s just been disappointing to see I hope he can turn it around.

    Great video Jackson

  8. Rockets fans are the worst. Want to fire Ime. Throughout the years want to trade Jalen, Jabari, and Sengun. Don’t show up to the games. Trash fan base. So glad none of the opinions here will get in the way of what the Rockets are building. They’re 7-4. But it’s nothing but complaining from you bums

  9. For a team who relies primarily on players who are under 23 years old, all of this is encouraging and some of you have no real love for the Rockets, no understanding of the game, no patience, and somehow expect these dudes to compete for a title this year. Out of touch with reality

  10. Why didn't Jock dress out? sus injury report and dnpcd. Alperen became a vet last night, he imposed his will and left no doubt, then he sat there w/Fred talking strat. Watching that should be the most encouraging take away.

  11. Reed had me screaming and hyped this game, I been getting annoyed asf at his hesitation to shoot, its literally the only reason he’s getting PT, but this game he was aggressive asf. Great bounce back bc if you notice last game he was getting yelled at by his teammates for that play in the corner where he didn’t shoot the ball and it turned into a turnover, and then ime took him out the rest of the game so it was really good to see even if it’s the 🗑️ ass wizards

  12. IMO, Jabari’s shot is flat probably because he is trying to guide it. Plus he is leaning in. Saying that, I think it can be fixed especially if he gets his feet set quicker.

  13. The true is that our team is packed with bad shooters, it's that plain and simple. I just hope that over the course of the season, Reed and Cam can become a difference makers on offense to offset a little bit our bad shooters.

    The can't shoot clan:

    FVV (Never can't shoot)
    Jabari (Never can't shoot)
    Jalen (Streaky shooter)
    Brooks (Never can't shoot)
Amen (Can't shot but does so many thing)

I think their main issue is that they play scared on offense thinking more in the miss that in actually making the bucket.

If only we had like 30% of OKC shooters because in that team like in Boston and GSW, every player can shoot.

  14. I am starting to think that Udoka is „coaching hard“ as Alpi requested and it seems like it’s paying off.

No TOs, no room for lazy defense, therefore only letting him play when he plays responsible D.. and Alpis defense has been the best of his career this season.. also it seems like he is putting Alpi in crunch time situations where he has to score under pressure..

Maybe that’s just Udokas tough love..

  15. I think reality is, at least at the moment, Jalen and Alpi just couldn't coexist. We never get a game where both of them have a good game. It's always one or the other. I'm still optimistic but looking at it now, they just couldn't.
