[Jeff Passan] Bregman now expected to re-sign due to Astros concerns they won’t be able bring Kyle Tucker back after this season

  1. Lmao wtf does this even mean. Astros find out contracts end and shit their pants. Next on the news, the Astros learn you can take pitches and not swing immediately. Thanks Jeff

  2. >“Bregman remaining a lifetime Houston Astro alongside Jose Altuve is a real possibility. Particularly with the Astros concerned about ponying up for outfielder Kyle Tucker, who hits free agency after next season and is looking at a $300 million-plus deal,” Passan said.

The title and quote aren’t the same thing.

  3. Crane just keeps letting all the good talent walk … makes money off us every postseason but refuse to pay players smh

  4. I never expected any chance Tucker would stay. He’s pure mercenary and seems to not give a shit about this city or team anyway. Plus he’s turned into a late season Maldonado level hitter the last two years.

  5. Bergman is such a leader in the clubhouse. His baseball talent aside, he’s the team’s heartbeat

  6. The amount of money coming off the books after next season, we should be able to pay for both tbh

  7. I’ll stand on the hill that Tucker is the better player, but Breggy is the more valuable player because of how hard it would be to replace him. Tucker is also going to command a larger contract than Breggy would.

It’s difficult but not impossible for us to keep both of them, but if we had to choose, I’d pick Breggy (though we’d need some serious reinforcements in the outfield because of just how offensively nonexistent for large chunks Chas and Jake were).

  8. Tucker is such a non-factor in the playoffs that I feel like this is the right move. He’s a great player but he turns into crap in the post season.

  9. If the Astros don’t expect to bring back Kyle Tucker they should trade him to recoup something else besides a damn comp pick.

  10. Tucker is great but he seemed to turn into Aaron Judge in the postseason. We are talking postseason Judge btw… BUT you DO need the regular season greats to get you to the postseason in the first place. Hmmm

  11. Tucker is Aaron Judge in the playoffs. If you are going to open up the checkbook for an outfielder call Soto. Other than that I think Bregman / Framber is the way.

  12. How much more success do we have to have to be able to retain our players? Win 5 World Series in a row? We have been on a historic run and yet we still can’t keep our best players. I know we can’t keep them all but this is getting ridiculous.

  13. This is how I always suspected it would play out. Astros will be priced out of tuck’s market.

  14. Misleading Title is misleading. It doesn’t mean that and it’s probably a bad idea to attribute meaning at this point. What we do know is that this is either bad or misleading journalism.

  15. Astros don’t bluff at contract talks, they let Correa, Springer, Cole walk and don’t blink twice. If bregman wants an overpriced contract with 5+ years, he can go too. You can’t keep everyone

  16. Gotta keep both. If we can keep Altuve, Yordan, Bregman, Pena, Tucker and Yainer every other hitter will fall into place and/or not make a big impact.

  17. Let Tucker go. He has great numbers, but doesn’t perform when needed. He checks out in the playoffs.
