  1. I wonder if we would’ve waited till TDL if we could’ve gotten more and not have to wait till 2027 for the payoff pick

  2. 3rd + 5th is probably solid value for Eller in a vacuum, but the third being years away kinda sucks

  3. I’ll miss Eller. He outplayed his cap hit, which is way more than people gave him credit for when he was acquired.

  4. Only dude to fucking show up half the time. Sad, but at least they’re acknowledging this roster is ASS.

  5. So I guess we’re just at full on rebuild now. Eller was one of the few Pens performing game in and game out. If we’re going to blow off the season, might as well trade everyone for the future.

  6. Just realized, either someone had to go or go on waivers anyway with Nieto coming back after his conditioning and Poulin being called up.

Much rather see any kind of return than lose a guy for nothing

  7. It has been a while since I was that mad for a trade. Damn he was a good player for us.

EDIT : I understand why, but I would’ve fired Sullivan way before doing this.

  8. RIP third line, best line. 🙁 I wasn’t expecting to like Eller as much as I did, but I appreciated how he was always really frank with the media about how the Pens were doing. If they shat the bed, he flat out said it and said what they needed to work on without generic “pucks in deep” phrases.

  9. Not surprised he got moved. Get assets on hand for him now and move on. Might have pulled a 2nd come the deadline but then I feel like it’s our luck if we wait and he gets hurt or just falls off a cliff.
I also feel like the return is a touch less probably because they let him pick his spot. Purely speculation but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was open to being shipped back to the Caps. If so, I can respect that they’ll treat vets with respect like that.
