  1. Ohtani played the Jays to get the Dodgers to go big. Look at the result, he now has a World Series ring a massive salary and more opportunities to win a WS in the future. Soto will do the same and use the desperate Jays to jack up offers from the Mets.

  2. I don't get all the surprise and incredulity; Soto saw what happened last off season; he'd be a fool not to take the Jays seriously. However, I do agree that having a corporate owner, rather than a free-wheeling millionaire, does put the Jays at a disadvantage.

  3. Why keep going after the biggest fish 🤦‍♂️ we need more help than one guy, take that 600 million and go and get 4 or 5 really good to great players and fill multiple holes. One guy will not fix this mess of a roster, even if vladdy resigns those two contracts will not leave enough to sign enough good players to compete!! Omg i hate the shatkins duo !!

  4. Realistic or not, the man wants 700 million USD. Even if the Yankees offer 575 million, (perhaps perceived as a low ball number to Soto)…just for the Jays to retain parity and match, that's 803 million CDN. Add in Canada's high tax bracket, dealing with the border, well, umm, ya. Sobering to put it mildly. The Jays need to fill multiple glaring holes. Of course, it would be great to add a player of Soto's caliber but realistically, it seems out of reach and nonsensical. Daydreaming is nice but the Jays are far away from being contenders by burdening themselves with such an astronomical contract as this will likely require. For all he is offensively, he's a very subpar defender, not great on the bases and doesn't possess high end speed. For this dollar amount, such an outlay requires highs in all categories.

  5. Ya'll are all foolish if u actually believe any of this bs. SOTO is not signing with the jays haha. Every big free agent just uses the jays to create a stir.. and use them as leverage. Think about it let's say Soto wants to stay in new tork what's a good way for Soto to get more money out of them ohhhh leak a report that says jays are players for your services, a division rival. This is a joke. Ain't happening let's move on.

  6. We’ll see where this leads us. Soto and Vladdy are childhood friends so Vladdy will most likely be involved in the meeting. If the Jays truly want him they can outbid anyone. They have the cash. Mets and Cohen always talk a big game but never get the big fish. I don’t take the Mets seriously but we’ll see.
