Lars is back

  1. While I agree the 3C needed to be addressed via trade, I am 100% not a fan of this move. Eller is not a fast skater, not young, and does not produce enough offensively to help that line. Let’s not forget, there is a reason us Caps fans wanted Eller to be traded all 2022-2023 season…steep price as well that doesn’t include retention

  2. I’d rather give a much faster Lappy more time, hoping he improves (and if not, make a move closer to TDL) than go with a guy we know has a ceiling that is slow, defensive minded with limited offensive production

  3. Anybody with a pair of eyes could see Lapierre was having a hard time. Even aging and slowing down, Eller is still a very good and dependable 3rd line center, historically one of the best third line center that ever wore our jersey, and one that still held his own in a struggling Pens team,

Am I sad that we had to fill our spot with an aging veteran while we are still “rebuilding”? Do I think we pulled the plug a bit early on the Lapierre experiment centering the third line this year? Do I think that there was no hurry to act and that we had the luxury of being patient with the youngster, something nobody around the team expected for this team, this year? Yes, yes, yes.

But… it’s a great way to fill the gap short term. Eller is still good and will always be one of the most important Capital of this generation, so welcome back and hop on the hype train because this team has addressed one of the rare weaknesses it has showed so far this season!

  4. Lars has been one of Pittsburgh’s most consistent players and solidifies our bottom 6. Pens fans seem pretty bummed he’s gone and that the return wasn’t higher. I’m pretty happy with this move.

  5. Ellers one of the best for the Pens this year so I love this, fix the 3C issue and get a guy back who I think will flourish

  6. When I heard the news that Lars was on the trading block, I knew it was just a matter of time.

Clearly, Lappy isn’t ready for the big show just yet, so this was definitely the right move.

P.S. It was always so weird seeing him in a Pittsburg uniform, anyway, so this just feels so much better.

  7. He gave us the goal that gave us the Cup. He’s always got a seat in the locker room imo. I’m glad to see him back in jersey with a real bird on it.

  8. Love having him back on the team, but not at that price. Let the young guys play and they’ll be ready by the playoffs.
