I didn't like the idea of the angels signing Snell last year, I don't think I like the idea now, as soon as you give him 5yr contract he'll suck. He struggled the first 6 games last year, I rather the angels sign Roki Sasaki, but we all know where he's going, along with Soto.

I wouldn’t mind Snell as long as the AAV and term isn’t too crazy. Despite his awful start to the season he still put up better numbers than any of our starters.
NO
I saw a video that the reason he wasn’t good was because he wasn’t throwing his breaking ball for strikes. If the fastball is the only thing hitting the strike zone, just wait for it and bang it.
Oh god
He’s still a really good pitcher despite the inconsistency. 2x Cy Young and career ERA of 3.19. Still throws hard and has a great slider. You just don’t want him for more than 3-4 years since he’s 31. He’s better than CJ Wilson.
🔥 FIRE 🔥 SALE🔥WHEN🔥
Lincecum again!
I think they need a Vet like that to help develop the pitching core
Why the hell would he do that lol
I got excited when I read that we were gonna sign a “young” pitcher. Low and behold I see it was a Cy Young pitcher and one that I think a lot of us don’t want lol.
Arte about to swerve all of us. Instead of signing an over the hill FA bat to a contract that he’ll underperform, he’s gonna sign an over the hill FA ARM to a contract that he’ll underperformFA bat!
Checkmate losers!
This is a hard pass for me. Inconsistent and injury prone, also the vibes are off around the dude. Try Roki IMO, if not get some lesser guys or let our young guns pitch.
Oh great another possible signing of a “mvp” type player exiting his prime to sign with us haven’t seen this before…
the discourse around snell is always so interesting. people had already been calling him washed/inconsistent and then he went and won another cy young. even if he isn’t putting up cy young numbers every year, he has only had one year under 100 ERA+. immediate upgrade to our rotation, and as long as the contract isn’t straight up terrible (not ruling that out) this would likely be our best FA pitcher since CJ wilson
I feel like this will be another Pujols/Hamilton/Wells signing.
Again, same as last year – no thanks.
Soto is probably going to the Mets. The Dodgers don’t really need him and are already spending a ton. Nobody will spend more than Steve Cohen, so likely the Yanks lose Soto. Sasaki is a Dodger. Zero chance he goes anywhere else unless he has a lifelong desire to be a Yankee. That’s the only team I could see having even the slightest chance of getting him away from LA.
I’m similarly unsure if signing Snell would be the right move, but if we do, he would instantly be the best SP on this staff. Let’s not kid ourselves lol.
He had a slow start to the season last year because he held out for so long and missed all of spring training. With a normal offseason program, I think he would be as effective as expected.
Pitchers are injuries waiting to happen. They’re a volatile asset. Signing any pitcher is a calculated risk. Again, I’d argue for spreading the money across more players, but I don’t think he’d automatically turn into a pumpkin.
Probably objective is trade bait at mid season for a contender. If you can get 2 yrs then someone may bite
Not going to happen.
Jeff Passan mentioned today that the Angels are looking at the, “mid market pitchers.” Expect someone like Lorenzen, Heaney, or Gibson.
Build me up…
I think it could be a good move. Surprisingly he has already shown interest in the past in playing for the Angels so he’s probably open. If they can keep the AAV reasonable and no more than like 5 years I’d say go for it. He’s been really good the past couple years, with the exception of the start of last year, and I’d attribute some of that to not having a spring training.
Wit the Angels’ luck, it’s probably Kershaw.
Bauer.
based off our history of our FA signings the last 20 years, it wont work out
Do they mean actually Cy Young? Do the Angels know he’s dead? Probably wouldn’t matter
Joe Blanton is coming out of retirement and we are going to sign him to a 5 year deal
