Bill Simmons says the Brooklyn Nets are the best option for Giannis

  1. >overwhelmed Milwaukee with picks

We’re not deep enough yet to be a great team, even with Giannis. It’d be a lateral move for him. Bucks 2.0

  2. I just want to experience a normal rebuild. I’m actually enjoying this team.

Trading for Giannis would just bring us a repeat of the KD/Kyrie years.

  3. I guess I’m in the minority here because I would 100% trade a bunch of picks for Giannis. The odds of getting Flagg are so small, even if we are a bottom 3 team. Even smaller still are the odds that Flagg or anyone we draft would be as impactful as Giannis.

It’s just so much easier to trade for a superstar in todays NBA than draft one.

  4. It makes sense option wise but it sucks basketball wise

It’d be like first year Kyrie all over again minus the Covid stuff

  5. Any Giannis deal that doesn’t have us giving up the upcoming draft pick is one I listen to.

Unlike the prior big trades, Giannis is a top 5 player today. If the salary match involved Ben, instant rebuild and we are back in the mix.

  6. No thank you. Develop the culture and the young guys. We did it before and landed KG, Kyrie… but this time don’t go for star and keep the chemistry

  7. I would take the 30 year old top three player in the league every time. Sorry I know the last superstar era failed but 2020-21 was the most fun I’ve ever had as a fan. Giannis changes the culture and expectations immediately.

  8. Bill is doing the thing where he suggests a team do something and then immediately flips to criticize the team for doing said thing.

Even if the Nets trade no players and just add Giannis, this roster is nowhere near talented enough to be a contender.

  9. Would be an incredibly dumb move for us.

His play-style probably won’t age well. They said the same about Lebron but at least he could shoot and was an elite playmaker. He also requires a stretch 5 to operate. Bucks basically have a stretch 5 at all times (Portis or Lopez). Stretch 5 that are playable are hard to find and the Bucks are stuck playing Portis and Brook even though they have regressed.

And this move would cost a lot, players and picks. Giannis currently has an elite 2nd option and they’re still struggling. Sure Doc is a reason but he usually performs well in the regular season. The successful teams right now have young stars and elite depth. We are in perfect position to draft 2 franchise stars in the next 2 drafts and add depth with later picks. I’d take my chances there given Sean Marks draft history.

  10. Bill Simmons is wrong, I think Houston is the best spot for Giannis. They have the assets, coach and Olajuwon can show him much necessary needed tricks.

  11. The big market makes us (apparently) a massive threat anytime we have the cap room. Keep all the picks IMO and just go to free agency in the next season or two with the ability to sign someone huge.
