They’re be a “leak” they offered x money so they don’t come off as cheap but we all know better.
d’Arnaud? We were never matching a 2 year contract with Teel knocking on the door
Is it really trying when you offer pennies on the dollar.
Like what sounds better
A. $300 million for 8 years
B. $500-600 million for 13 years
Any player with even 1% of a brain is taking B
I know this post isn’t about Soto specifically but when he inevitability signs somewhere else, this is why. Change the numbers accordingly for whatever free agents we “try” on but miss
That would assume that they tried. Making an offer and trying are two vastly different things
How do you know we even went after TDA? How about we wait till after things play out to start making stupid self loathing memes
Same story different year… they think their fan base is stupid! Keep buying their fucking $30 beers and they’re $50 hotdogs
Is this about the 36 year old catcher who just signed a 2 year deal?
It’s uncanny how much the Sox remind me of the Bruins back in the day. Harry Sinden was notorious for this.
Hey, we *tried* to get Brett Hull!
Hey, we *tried* to get Curtis Joseph! Here’s a cut-rate Bill Ranford instead!
Hey, we *tried* to get prime Paul Coffey!
Hey, we *tried* to keep Jason Allison!
Hey, we really, really, really wanted to keep Bill Guerin! We *tried*!
Hey, WE GOT KEVIN STEVENS! (10 years too late)
It’s lip service. Nothing more.
You mean they aren’t really going to offer Soto $600 million? Well color me shocked
the best is if he did sign with the sox, we’d be getting ‘CAN HE PITCH?!?’ posts
Am I really the only one who doesn’t care about signing Soto? He’s a liability in the field and we have enough left handed bats as it is.
If this is about Travis then why? Wong did plenty well last season and got snubbed from the all star game. Plenty of other options for a defense first position.
Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to “Interest Season”. The hot stove can be fun but honestly , does anyone expect ownership to actually sign any pitching? Because that’s what they need , they need pitching and the results speak for themselves.

They didn’t try though.
