Are the #Seahawks roster moves sending mixed messages?

The Seahawks made another roster shakeup by cutting LB Tyrel Dodson and claiming nose tackle Brandon Pili off waivers from Miami, but Mike Salk believes this sends a different message than the Ernest Jones IV signing just a couple weeks ago.

  1. Like Richard Sherman said, this all comes down to not resigning Bobby Wagner. We would have saved money resigning Bobby then acquiring Jerome baker and Tyrel Dodson. Bobby would have been a veteran leader who knows the atmosphere and could have been a great mentor to rookie Tyrice Knight.

  2. If they lose to the 49ers I think they should just pull the plug. Why give Geno $40-50 million when we clearly need that money to improve the rest of the team. DK is a generational receiver so I’m still not sure about letting him go. Everyone else except for obviously JSN, Spoon and Cross should be let go or shopped around

  3. I understand a lot of what you guys are saying
Can we take into account though, Mike did not have the time with the organization prior to the draft or the preseason to be able to establish himself or acquisitions he really wanted
He came in late, didnt have time to interview a lot of OCs and figure out what personnel fit his idea of a football team
Give him this offseason, a full offseason and see what he does with it

  4. Jim and the chargers have their QB. Not a good example. If we didn’t have to worry about that, makes it all easier to build your vision. Jim and Mike not sold on Geno so they are fixing things while they figure that out

  5. I think what's hilarious is that salk doesn't care to mention the difference in O-line that was inherited by jim harbaugh compared to Mike. Harbaugh inherited a great foundation and added a guard on the offseason, great move, and had a top 5 pick because they were so bad the year prior, to continue building his identity of winning through the trenches and he drafted joe alt. The chargers have 3 first rounders on the line. I mean imo mike is trying to build the same tough in the trenches team as his first two picks in his own draft were d line and o line. Oh also we didnt have 2nd rounder because of another midseason trade by schneider and pete. granted it was for leo which im not too upset about but still not having his 2nd rounder is a problem mike had to inherit. The position we were in cap space wise and roster wise (being built from the outside in) was not mike's fault and he has only had 1 offseason to put a dent in the problem. He will right the ship and I think he understands we need to win in the trenches first before anything.

  6. We went and got Ernest Jones because he is a DAWG. Thats what M.M. wants. Toughness and physicality. Dodson was not that. He is a little undersized and not physical enough. This team is not far off being a good team. O line needs to improve. Linebacker play has not been good enough. I am not sure why anyone was expecting a rookie head coach with a rookie OC with someone else's roster was going to just run away from the rest of the league. We are 4-5, we can try to win now and rebuild at the same time. Dodson was not getting it done so let the rookie get some experience. Dodson was our leading tackler not because he was good but rather because he was the weak link. Teams diliberatly ran at him. This was a good move.

  7. Blonde hair knows what he is talking about. Other guy not so much. Mike McDonald is a good coach. Things take time. Conor Williams done lost us games with his awful snaps in key situations…..if that stopped….i tell you what. We might have a good football team. The defense is waking up.

  8. Brock is correct. All I can see is 90's Seahawks and I am saying it again and again and again. They were not rebuilding. They were trying to win so hard with John Friez, Warren Moon and Jon Kitna. They were fighting every single week. Those guys were very good. But then somehow the other guys on the sideline were usually better. How can you win Broncos, Raiders, Chargers and Chiefs easily? There was no way for the Seattle Seahawks to contend in the 90's. The bottom line is this. Rebuilding my you know what. Rebuilding my you know what. We are expecting the Seattle Seahawks to win against San Francisco 49ers on this Sunday. If it takes Dodson or other guys removed from the team, go right ahead. That's the bottom line.

  9. Should’ve never let Bobby walk SMH you let the leader walk again just to sign two linebackers you traded and cut SMH Bobby would’ve been the anchor would’ve had everybody focused but no 🤦🏽‍♂️

  10. Jones wasn't a going-for-it move. It's admitting you failed miserably twice to replace Wagner even though you correctly identified hat he lost more than a step the first time you cut him. Schneider is lucky he has a hands-off owner who doesn't know what she is doing. Because Schneider has been living off clout from a draft a decade ago, while fielding mediocre teams with just enough spark to lose in the first rd of the playoffs.
