[@keithhernandez] RIP to Keith’s cat Hadji (22 years) “My old buddy. See you in another life. I know you’ll be waiting for me with open paws. It was his time to go. No quality of life. He passed painlessly and with dignity. Tough one. I don’t think I’ll ever get over it”

22 years is impressive.
Condolences, Keith 😢 Hadji was part of the Mets family.
Keith loved that cat. He mentioned the cat a few times in his book. Condolences to Keith.
Damn. RIP Hadji. 22 is a heck of a run for a cat.
For those unaware, Keith would post about Hadji frequently on social media and would bring him up during broadcasts a couple times a year. Anyone who consistently watches Mets games knows he really seemed to love that cat. Would not be shocked to see the Mets do a little something next year in honor of Hadji.
Wow, RIP Hadji, I’m genuinely sad for it because he’s been a fixture, but he also had a good cat life.
Sportscasters need to stop having pets because between Ben (Herbstreit’s pup who passed last week) and Hadji I’m getting sad in sports subs to frequently lately 🙁
Much love to Keith and Hadji, 22 is a hell of a run
that’s such a good long life for a kitty. RIP
My girl just got diagnosed with late stage lymphoma. Vet said 4 months is best case. I’m dreading putting her down. First time as an adult I’ll have to do that. The thought of it is killing me. I feel like I’m letting her down by doing that, in some weird way. I feel for ya, Keith. And everyone who’s been in a similar situation.
Edit: I really appreciate all the responses. My wife and I haven’t really told anyone yet, we’re still kind of processing. It’s nice getting it off my chest, although thinking about it does make me want to cry. Much love.
No not Hadji 😢. RIP to a legend.
The cat looked like him 😭😭😭 RIP Hadji. I feel like the older I’ve gotten the more I’ve understood cats 😂😂
Win it in ’25 for Hadji.
Best commentator in the league & I am a dbacks fan. So sad to see this but 22 years is so amazing!
RIP. Hopefully he’s included in the in-memoriam next year at Citi Field.
I am inordinately sad. RIP, Hadji.
There’s having a stadium, or a street named after you, than there’s having someone name their pet after you. Hojo and Keith’s friendship is truly special, and even more special was Keith’s love for Hadji. RIP ❤️
Cats are love. Hadji was a little icon
RIP Hadji. It is so hard to say goodbye to our pets.
I never did have a pet growing up but got one about 4 years ago.
The way they worm their way into your hearts down to expecting their pitter patter in the house and feeling off when it’s not there…
Hadji and pets like him are family. RIP.
Loved that video of Keith showing the catwalk he had built for Hadji
My cats Luna and Boo don’t know it yet but I’m hugging the crap out of them when I get home today.
A couple of months ago I had to say goodbye to my cat of 15 years. Age and illness were doing a toll, and it was the right thing to do. Reading this just tore open that wound right back.
I didn’t think it would be so hard.
RIP Hadji 😿
I just had to have my approximately 15 yr old cat down. The approximation is because she was a rescue from the local shelter. My wife, who has always been a cat person, got her when her previous cat died. She was affectionate and companionable. At the beginning of COVID, my wife got a dog and has wholly become a dog person. The cat then decided I was her person and while I’ve always been a cat person myself, she was the best cat I ever had. For reasons that both mundane and wonderful.
I’ve had pets since I was a kid and she was the first one I STILL, 2 months later, catch myself wondering where she is in the house. And then I have to re-remember she’s not in the house anymore.
If there is anything in life to hope for, it’s that my cat also lives 22 years. Condolences to Keith. Hadji seems to have had a long and full life
As a cat father, I feel his pain. I love my daughter.
As a cat dad to three older boys (16, 13, and 13), my heart goes out to Keith. 22 years is a heck of a run for a cat, and it’s clear his boy had a life filled with love and happiness. RIP Hadji.
I just lost my cat on Monday, who almost made it to 21.5.
It’s been a real rough couple of weeks in this house, but we take it one day at a time.

For those unaware, Keith absolutely loved tf out of that cute lil fluffy boy. Here’s them on [Hadji’s 22nd bday](https://www.instagram.com/p/DA9KD2RSJow/?igsh=cGhudjE3NTlldXFm).
