  1. Extending Crosby and Malkin and Letang on a team that last won the Cup 8 years ago was, to be blunt, stupid as all get out. It was Hab-like on the DUHHHHHH! meter. Mind you, it's good for other teams that the Pens believe in fossils.

  2. This isn't supposed to be a full on rebuild. Expiring contracts is one thing. Eller was on the block from day 1 of his final contract year (most likely last deadline), so don't act like this is the great sell off. I am guessing that the goalie situation and Sid was #1 this off-season, then adding pieces without term in hopes that they formed something that looks like a contender. There's only so much that you will bring in with that logic. Letang and Malkin should have been allowed to walk.

  3. Eller is good in the playoffs so it looks as if the Penguins are looking long term not for the playoffs.
Of the four players mentioned Crosby would get the biggest return but I just don't see him moving. The defencemen could only be moved if Dubas threw in draft picks and/or retained salary. In my mind this makes Malkin the only one who may be able to be traded. I don't know him well enough to determine if he wants to chase another Cup or just stay and retire a Penguin.

  4. Eller will slot in perfectly to the 3C position. That was honestly the only position that had significant weaknesses on the team. Plus he played on a line with Vrana for years previously.

  5. All I know is that if Pittsburgh goes into a rebuild, just like the Rangers and Devils, they'll finish it before Philly does and I'll want to punch a baby.

  6. Franchises forced to rebuild
    Sens 2016
    Sharks 2020
    Penguins 2024
Gee, i wonder what all these teams have in common?
Erik Karlsson, the destroyer of franchises.

3 Norris trophies for the defenseman who doesn't play defense. 😜😂🤣
Most overrated player in NHL history.

  7. I remember a few years back hearing Malkin and Letang were gunna go elsewhere, but Sid convinced them to stay. Pretty sure Tanger wanted to go to Montreal…..so if any of the big 3 go anywhere my bets on Letang

  8. It’s sad to picture “Syd the Kid” in a different uniform, but if he could win another Cup (or a couple more) elsewhere, I want that for him as a fan. I hope Dubois has the smarts to engineer a swift rebuild and a fresh wave of rising Penguin 🐧 stars will thrill us soon.

  9. I wouldn’t mind seein Beauvillier back with the Islanders, since that one small good stint with Vancouver it has been a very rocky time for him, got bounced around the league a lot, maybe he’ll find his game back once he goes back to NYI.

  10. I don't think they can do anything to turn things around in Pittsburgh, until they get rid of Dubas. Trading Eller isn't going to do anything good for the Penguins, except give the illusion of them being managed and give their fans a dirty feeling by trading Eller to the Capitals.
