New Orleans Saints Offense Needs More Taysom Hill, Alvin Kamara Backfield Pairings

The New Orleans Saints beat the Atlanta Falcons with defensive wrinkles brought on by Darren Rizzi’s changes. Against the Cleveland Browns, offensive wrinkles with Taysom Hill should be key. Getting Hill and Alvin Kamara involved more together on the ground should lighten the load for Derek Carr and help keep Miles Garrett honest and unable to pin his ears back against rookie Taliese Fuaga.

Jameis Winston makes his highly-anticipate return to New Orleans and he has Nick Chubb in tow. Chubb’s rushing numbers since his return haven’t been up to his standard and a weak Saints run defense will have to work hard to keep it that way. Along with Garrett, defensive playmakers like Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and Denzel Ward could be coming back from injury to provide a jolt.

  1. I love the idea of Taysom/AK splitting carries. We used to champion the boom and zoom back in the day and haven’t found it since Ingram fell off. It’s def not Jamaal, not even sure why he’s still on the roster. He’s been terrible this year. AK and Taysom could put up serious yards if used correctly

  2. Kubiak needs to call more screens. Carr and this O-line needs something to negate the rush. When he has called it, its worked Needs to sprinkle it a bit more so it gives the defense more to think about

  3. Don't forget about Mims. He picks up big chunks everytime he touches the ball. The team is 3 and 7, why not mix it up. Kevin Austin Jr runs a 4.37. Give him a shot at going deep if they are doubling MVS. I just want Kubiak to turn it up

  4. Idky klint kubiak doesn’t stick to what’s been working the first two games or even the first half of games. He seems to not make the necessary adjustments at halftime

  5. the reason its more effective is because when he is in the backfield he is a very effective short down runner but he's also a possibility to throw the ball, allows for double passes with two legitimate passers. Basically the number of options the defense needs to think about greatly increase, and they are legitimate threats. You see lots of teams will switch to a direct snap with only a running back, but that reduces the play options, putting Taysom next to the QB expands the options.

  6. Still doing a great job Ross. Love your approach to talking about the team, not being overly negative but still being honest. Keep it up, man!
