Strom is 75 and is seemingly well known as a good pitching coach, although he was just fired by the Diamondbacks for their pitching imploding last year. I could see this being just as much about Marin learning from a well seasoned veteran as it is about Strom helping out the Pirates pitchers.
Honestly I’m just wondering why he hasn’t retired already. He planned on retiring after the 2021 Astros championship but then went back to coach the Diamondbacks, and is now taking a lesser role with the Pirates. Dude has had a great coaching career so it’s interesting that he’s still going at this age.
Dude is drooling over getting the opportunity to be about to train this bullpen.
Imagine, as a pitching coach, you got the opportunity to help 3 all star (4 if Jones hadn’t bent overshadowed), the technique freak that is falter and the likes of Oviedo and probably some of the best “second chance”pitchers.
