On to the next one
7 in double figures. Won at free throw line. First and 4th efforts defending the 3 point line killed us. Gg
this motherfucker is going to be killing everyone when he’s 59, forget 39, fuck this im not even worrying about the 40s it’s never going to end
Knecht heater killed too
We keep grinding.
A lot of misses 3s on our end and we started poorly.
Lots of learning to be done
the awful start with nobody looking like they even cared other than pippen is what made this anywhere near close
Tough loss but man I love this team. Seeing two way guys like Huff and Pippen… internally developed guys like Jake and Jaren, and rookies like Jaylen and Edey all out there contributing is amazing. Super stoked for the potential of this squad. Yeah the injuries suck but man this team is fun to watch
Edit – oh and Marcus had a great game besides a couple bad TOs
I’m starting to like our crazy little offense. Proud of the boys. We win this with Ja.
The Knecht stretch of the game was wild. Guess he only makes those at home.
Just fucking play Jaren holy shit. You aren’t penalized if he fouls out.
Good effort from the hospital squad.
Also that ESPN crew was blatantly cheering for LA. I’ve never heard anything THAT bad.
Sucks to lose, but the team’s looking good in spite of the injuries.
A game where everything seemed to go against us and it’s a 5 point loss without Bane or Ja.
On to the next.
Tough loss. We were not at full strength. Edey totally bulldozed AD.
That Huff Snuff to end the quarter was nice gg
Tough loss but good fight nonetheless. Caught a hot shooting Lakers. Must say LeBron was awesome.
Definitely played better once we started to get those paint touches. Scotty was good in the 1st half but faltered a bit in the 2nd. Santis shooting is a cause for concern does other things well but he’s shooting 25% from 3. If that continues think Jake pips him in the rotation. Marcus was also fine imo think people wanting to just blame someone. Must say the Jitty minutes were rough.
Bounce back to the Warriors game tho hopefully Vince is back there can use some more perimeter defence.
Needed more LaRavia minutes…. Smart is redundant and isn’t some crazy defender anymore, we have VWJ. Trade Smart before deadline.
Starters were 5/23 from 3. Simple as. Hope we can have a huge game Friday. That one matters way more.
Well, ain’t that just a turd in your soup
Very happy to have watched at a bar with the TV muted in lieu of the nationally televised blowjob. Also, like, we were down 5 of our top 10 dudes, and it went down to the wire, so hopefully things will take care of themselves if we could ever fucking be healthy for once fucking hell
Add any 3 of Ja, Bane, Vince, GG, or BC to this roster and we bury them like Portland every time
Bron is crazy man. This dude has been balling out for nearly my entire lifetime and I’m in my 30s. Can’t do anything but respect it.
Proud of the dudes making it real close without Ja or Bane playing in LA
Excited for the growth of the Lakers Griz rivalry.
Love Tee Morant getting in AD’s head 😂
Santi isnt a wing, his shooting is too poor to be one. Edey looked great until he was forced to play out with AD making 3s and Scotty tried too hard to get back at the Lakers.
Also not a fan of Ja and Bane writing checks Jaren has to catch especially when none of them are going to be available
Not too phased by this tbh. We fought well for how injured we are. Lakers had the best shooting night of their season.
Eh, it is what it is. Def just need to weather until we get some guys back
Decent showing all things considered
We win if Knecht doesn’t randomly turn into 2016 Steph but GG
Freaking espn svp game highlights was all lakers. Absolutely no highlights from us. What tf ever
Bron had a trip dub and we only lost by 5 (Lakers might not make it through the szn if AD gets hurts for an extended period). Couple shots fall that didn’t and we win. Guys come back and we’ll be scary. On to GS.
**POSTGAME STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS**
**• Every team lights us up from three and it cannot be explained**
It’s not that they’re getting wide open looks all the time; they’re making contested threes against us. Maybe the team uses the same shampoo and it’s making other teams shoot better and they just don’t realize it. That’s as reasonable an explanation as anything else because these teams should not be shooting so well against us.
**• Marcus Smart wasn’t that bad**
Hear me out: 15 points, 6 ast, 2 rebs, 1 blk, 1 stl. 50% from three and 7 of 8 from the line. Those are the numbers of someone who has positively impacted his team. The issue is that he had 4 turnovers and somehow his turnovers just look like the worst, most preventable turnovers you’d ever see.
From the very beginning, I never believe Smart was long for this team, though I do think he’s a good player. Santi has shown that he’s very capable at the wing and offers many advantages over any of our shorter options. Ja will start when he’s available and SPjr appears to start when he isn’t. It doesn’t feel like there’s a lot of room for Smart on this team, let alone in the starting lineup.
However, he’s still a veteran who has 120+ playoff games under his belt and as one of the few DPOYs in recent years who wasn’t a big —*who have an unfair advantage with all the blocks they get*— he has a lot that he can teach players like Wells and Jake and Vince, all of whom are defensive minded and willing to throw themselves into being a stopper. He still has value for the team and when he’s putting up stats like tonight, it makes the case for trying to fit him in somehow. I still think he’s better off as a trade piece but he is good backcourt insurance.
**• When we’re not making threes, things get ugly**
Scores run up on us fast. Getting it into the paint is a slower game and it’s less sexy than seeing a splash but if they’d attacked AD from the door they could have forced him to the bench earlier and fouled him out after he returned. Speaking of fouls…
**• …Coach… why the fuck didn’t you challenge that charge on Jaren?**
Ja… Des… Edey… they’re going to be fine if they don’t get a call. But not getting calls really does fuck with Trip’s attitude. Just for the simple sake of saying *”I put my faith in you and I’ll do everything I can.”* they should have challenged that call. The bonus would have been the fact that they would have won that challenge. It was wild that they didn’t and it was really the difference in the late game dynamics.
**• At more or less full strength, the Lakers almost lost on their home court to the Grizzlies missing 6 core players**
And had it not been for their home-cooked officiating, they surely would’ve. They shouldn’t be celebrating, they should look deep within themselves. As an LA Chick: **fuck the Lakers**.
**• Edey gets better with each stretch of minutes he plays**
It would be nice if he got more minutes and longer stretches. He got 25 mintues tonight: a full 6 minutes more than usual. Can we, I dunno, do more of **that**? Give him more of BC’s minutes.
**• Jaren really showed up**
Gotta give credit where credit is due.
And shoutout to Luke Kennard for going 4 for 4 from three including that buzzer beater he hesitated on because he was thinking so hard about his precious 3PT%…
It sucked to lose, but man this team has some fight in it! We had opportunities, but just couldn’t capitalize and shots just didn’t fall. The sky is the limit with this team at full strength and we can even be pretty good with this MASH unit out there.
Happy with the performance.
We probably had no business getting as close as we did given we allowed them to shoot over 50%, but hopefully we learn from it and improve.
Games like this would be great to have a “true” foul counter pop up periodically with numbers above the players’ heads when they commit a foul. When AI gets really good maybe lol. I’d love to see the games like this where both teams feel like they got screwed by the refs.
People whining about Edey not getting his 6th foul, meanwhile Lebron and AD do the same shit and they’re quiet as a mouse.
I’m just glad I didn’t have to watch ESPN’s dogshit product. I always watch the local guys when I can.
Next game, Grizz vs Warriors – two of the remaining four western conference teams (and the only two not at the bottom of the standings ie Utah/Nola) that have yet to record a division win this year…
One of these teams needs to get their first division win – who will it be? Warriors or Grizz?
