cap space move
For just about the 20th time this week 😭😭
>With a day off tomorrow, Canucks could send down Lekkerimaki, Raty, & Bains. They stay at the minimum roster (20/23) with nearly 3m in cap space. $15,557 in accrual. More than 7x today’s accrual.
My favourite is reading the Facebook posts about the repeated transfers.
Wouldn’t be surprised if this is just a paper transaction, only for cap space accrual. Would hate to see Lekki thrown back down already—thought he looked great last night, and would love for him get a few good reps in
Out of curiosity, how much extra cap space are we opening up by doing these assignments?
I think I’d rather hear almost any other Canuck news than this day to day cap accrual stuff. Like, what did Patrick have for lunch? Did building maintenance fix the squeaky door on Rick’s office?
✂️ 🫰🏻✂️🫰🏻
I get the cap gymnastics but it has to suck to be one of the players getting an AHL salary for a day.
Can’t wait for the call-up post tomorrow
snip-snap
Are other teams doing this as well? Seems like such a simple move to accrue cap space over the year, but it only seems like this year that I’m hearing about it (probably because it gets posted to this sub every single time).
Anyone do the math and estimate the cap hit we could take at the TDL? I know it’s developing and not set in stone at all, but are we talking a 4M cap hit? 6M?
These cap gymnastics are becoming a running gag for us.
Death

Accruing every penny we can to maximize that trade in March…
if i had a dollar for every time Arshdeep gets called back to the minors, I’d be a millionaire
So we’ll have this type of thread every other day until the trade deadline, huh?
The comets move to abbotsford has been the greatest thing to happen to management in years
Is Dakky Jo coming back? I know its a cap space thing with all these transactions but he’s gotta be close no?
At some point the PA is going to have to step in and say you can’t do this right? This is a little crazy, seems like blatant cap circumvention to me, hope they have a tight ship everywhere else so Gary doesn’t bite them for this.
Bains’ accountant gonna be thrilled with all the tax paperwork for next year lol
Snip snap snip snap snip snap. You have no idea the physical toll that this has on a person.
Since this is just for cap stuff, does it mean the players just stay with the club and nothing physically changes? I get our AHL is just here but if we had an AHL team across the country, surely they’re not traveling back and forth?
All this back and forth 😭
Poor Bains, his tax returns are going to be a fucking mess lol
When they do this to these guys does it affect their salary as well?
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN STOP THIS NONSENSE I DONT GET IT AND I DONT THINK I CARE LOL
Snip snap snip snap
Seems like a rule the league should probably change, probably something like a player isn’t considered moved until they play a game or the team they left plays a game. Not to say we shouldn’t be doing it. (half expecting some sort of retroactive fine once they change the rules)
This revolving-door activity can’t be a positive influence on team morale.
accruing so hard rn
Why Jonathan though he belongs with the big club, I don’t get that at all
Is this what modern hockey is now? Shuffling players up and down every day to try and game the salary cap?
I don’t like it.
Really thought they might leave Bains to pay him an NHL salary.

Do they actually make em go down to Abbotsford?
BY GOD THAT’S DAKOTA JOSHUA’S MUSIC!
Again?
