  1. So I had to look that weird penalty situation up on the box-score. The only penalty they handed out was 2min for unsportsmanlike conduct .. so I may be able to translate, as I speak Ref.

I'm guessing no player threw here, and it ended up just being a three way aggressive hug(?). Dropping the gloves doesn't necessarily mean automatic fight, if no-one throws their face into a fist. Because there was no "fight," they can negate a third man in a situation, since he was clearly just bringing some love to the situation — however the third guy should have gotten at least a roughing since he knocked over the MTL guy.

For real though, if I had to guess, the MTL guy said something particularly offensive to the PHI guy (hence the unsportsmanlike) with the referee standing right there, since no-one threw, the refs are more likely to reward that "good behavior" (e.g. they escalated before de-escalating) with a warning. The crowd got blue balls as they wanted some shenanigans from yester-decade.

  2. I wouldn’t put it passed those philly refs. I mean they once gave us 2 minutes for “delay of game” when a player was just grabbing a new stick! 🙆🏽‍♂️🙆🏽‍♂️💁🏽‍♂️

  3. And it all started when Dach EMBELLISHED A HEAD HIT that didn't even catch him. The sweater brushed against him and a half second later he reacted with a whiplash head snap! That's it! GIVE DACH A DIVE PENALTY. Dach's soccer-like FLAILING started all of this.

  4. Seriously WTF? This kind of thing is really worrying. With sports betting companies running the show now across all sports and all broadcasts, it just makes one wonder when we see calls like this, and it's happening more and more often.

  5. explain me this call we defend are guys from yet another attempted cheap shot the seeler comes in a third man in and xhekaj gets the only 2 min penalty wtfh is this i think we should investigate old buttman cuz something stinks in queens new york
look he has been commissioner since 1993 no canadien team has won lord stanleys cup that is not a coincidence It Is by Design just look at what the blak hawks did to win or what the bruins did to the sabers to win they injured 4 of the 6 defense men and no call for these dirty hits yet when xhekaj defends his teamats and get jumps from behind nothing

  6. I'm kind of two minds on this. Yes you need to pay special attention to repeat offenders, but you also need to referee the game and NOT the players. As stupid calls go, this was the worst I'd ever seen. Guess the refs haven't seen Montreal players answer dirty hits before, so they are bewildered and don't know how they should handle it. Poor Arber is already "skating on eggs". Maybe he should be sent down to the AHL where fighting is "just for fun" to let him regain his self-confidence and let the pre-season dust in the NHL, settle. Certainly NOT because he deserves it because he's certainly not the only Canadiens defensemen out there making mistakes. Case in point, when he was out of the lineup we got our asses whipped anyway.

  7. Seeler doesn't get a penalty for turd man in because the zebras determined there was no fight. Cooter should also not have to fight one of the most feared fighters in Xhejak, for what was almost certainly an accidental hit.

  8. While I don't think that refs should be giving interviews to the media (like the NBA) but, journalists and coaches should be permitted to submit questions to the NHL that get answered via a release. This would help people understand why some calls were made.

  9. It makes sense, if you corner a guy trying to fight him because he MISSED a check (the guy brushed Coot's jersey numbers lol) , especially team captain, expect consequences! Nothing even happened, this is nothing like old time hockey, it's more like WWF nonsense! Montreal fans whine, and whine, and whine. Philly fans are relentlessly hard on their teams, montreal fans, coaches, organization are constantly whining to the league! It's established, it is well known! If your tough guy doesn't like the attempted hit, go straighten it out with another fighter and make your boundaries CLEAR. SIMPLE. It's a code! IMO is it technically a 3rd man in? Yea, are we turning hockey into pro basketball a bit? Shake your head yes.

  10. What makes no sense is that Canadian fans still watch. It’s virtually impossible to lose over 30 years in a row when Canada has 25% of the league. I don’t need to see corruption to know it’s there. I’ve never been to Africa but yet we all know it exists. No one will question it because it pays their salaries. Keep posting these videos to confirm my opinions

  11. I'm not a fan of the Habs but this is a travesty. One of the worse calls I've seen in a long time (at least since Jonas Brodin was called for a tripping call when he was skating backwards carrying the puck earlier this year).

  12. It’s crap like this where I have said for years, that sports with technology should go full video refereeing! The only time a ref should be on the ice is to drop the puck or to break up scrums. The missed calls or bad calls or even questionable calls like this one would be 99.99% eliminated.

  13. it was a good call… you can clearly see Courtier push the aggressor away and then look at the ref in a wtf gesture; he doesn't want to fight but won't be bullied either; the ref should have called the aggression sooner but this was not a fight, he was in a defensive stance… third man in rule does not apply since there was no fight and he was simply trying to protect the captain from further instigation.
