  1. Ugh.
As great as a hitter Mr. SOTO is, he is NOT Shohei Otahni.

Alonso first, then Crockett, Adam's to SECOND base since you already have Vientos AND Baty in the wings.
    And pitching pitching pitching.

The 86 mets had the pitching along with Strawberry and the KID (rest in power)
The 25 mets will have Alonso, Lindor, Vientos AND the pitching.
If Soto is affordable, great…but don't lock in someone for over a decade at those numbers.

Solo is great, but he isn't Otahni nor does he have his numbers.

  2. Off-season acquisition priorities: Soto + PITCHING. Starting pitching, relief pitching. I would like to see the Mets land Snell or Burnes (I think Burnes is better long-term, but riskier and will cost more), re-sign Manaea, and add some low-cost possibilities (like the Mets did last year in adding Manaea and Severino). I like the idea of trading for Devin Williams if it doesn't cost too much in prospects. Beyond that, .. re-sign Stanek and several other decent bullpen arms including a lefty. I really want to see Butto in the rotation next season, so … more relievers to fill the voids.

  3. This has to be the dumbest thing that anyone in any role in negotiation you could do. I love Beltran. In my mind, he should already be in the HOF sitting next to #31, but you don’t show your hand ESPECIALLY when you need something more than the other way around in any negotiation. You just upped the amount of $ he will cost you to the point where you could be bidding against yourself. I rather have Pete as a home grown player for 6 or 7 years & use the $ towards Snell or another ace. If uncle Stevie just wants to go crazy & throw $ at Pete, Soto, Snell, Fried, 2 former closers, & a bat in the OF & a defensive 3B moving vientos to DH then I’m all in. These double digit contracts almost never go well. I can count on my hand how many went well. Soto isn’t even a 5 tool player. Did he get the Yankees a ring with all of their moves & players? Nope.

So, you need several other players to surround him. Does Vientos take a step back? Can Alvarez get back to being a good hitter with power? What does Lindor look like into his 30s?Mets need 3 starting pitchers to get them there. Manaea would have to be a #3 as I think his new arm slot could put pressure on his arm. He hit a wall in the playoffs. We don’t know what we have in senga? He clearly wasn’t ready to come back. We can’t immediately assume that he was that player he was in 2023. Can we get 2 really solid & reliable relievers. Who can lengthen the lineup? There’s so many gaps & questions. It’s not like the Mets have only 3 holes to fill & all this $ to spend. They have to put half the team back together & the Mets can’t wait on the market for Soto & Alonso in February, imho.

  4. Let Alonso walk, sign Burnes and Soto, trade for Garret Crochet and sign back either Severino or Manea. Then let the prospects come up and battle for a spot on the roster. This team will be a force if we do these things or at least some of them.

  5. I am going to make a prediction, This is not me getting anything from any of my spotty inside sources. I am basing this ONLY on my opinion that I draw from scrolling out and looking at the wider map: 1. The Mets will sign Juan Soto. 2. They will be in on at least 1 of the big SP's and may bring one of their own back. They will be Very involved in trade talks for Croshet and/or Castillo and/or _____(Insert Dark horse not named Paul Scene) Then they will re-sign Pete Alonso BUT* After they announce the resigning of the Polarized Gator they will have another press conference, on or before opening day. That will be to announce Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor as Co-Captains.(Both will have C's on their Jerseys.) I say this because I was asking myself how they were going to give Soto $600M+ and tell Pete he is worth less than at least 2 of his teammates. We have not had a captain since David, And if Pete stays it is every bit as much his team as it is Lindor's. Also Because a boy can dream. I really want them to trade to bring DeGrom home. We were set back 3-4 years when that domino fell and the chain of events that followed. Call me sentimental but as I have said MANY times, Jake Simpleman is the best I have EVER seen. Seaver & Koos were before my time but I have seen Gooden, Viola, Cone, Leiter, Hampton, Pedro (Martinez and Estacio) , Johan, Maine, Dickey, Harvey Thor, etc etc etc. Also why not? He is less of a risk, albeit more of a commitment than Walker Bueller, and if he gets back to form as I suspect he will, his value will be more than just $ and 2 #20-#40 prospects. Pardon the Rant. Appreciate What You Do Tyler. Keep On Doing It. Love to You and the Fam. Brendan Crash.
