Texas Rangers top prospect Wyatt Langford was one of the preseason favorites to win AL Rookie of the Year, but wasn’t even named a finalist for the award. Colton Cowser, Austin Wells and Luis Gil were the three finalists.

Langford didn’t hit like an all-star or one of the best players in MLB from the start of the season, so the unfair weight of those expectations ruined the perspective of what was a phenomenal rookie season. Wyatt Langford finished the year as not only the AL Rookie of the Month, but AL Player of the Month for September.
