Here is an interview with EP40 in Swedish. I'll do my best to translate the whole thing. I hope you get something out of it:
Elias Petterssons dream with "Three Crowns": "I can play anywhere"
You could call it the "autumn from hell". But now Elias Pettersson is on the rise. 5 points on the last 3 games and the down period seems to be over. He admits that the autumn has been hard.
– It hasn't been the best start for me, but the only thing i can control is my own effort and if I work hard, the points will come. With good decisions on the ice the points will come.
Elias Petterssons dryspell has been a hot topic in Canadian media. The subject has been discussed during Hockey Night in Canada and of course daily in "hockey crazy" Vancouver, where magazines, radio, and TV follow Canucks during every practice, gathering and game. With his new mega contract the expectations is enormous.
– Of course it is easy to think about that kind of stuff. I know I haven't started the season that well, it's all on me and I'm just truing to look forward to the next game and play better.
– I have removed all my social media, which is nice because I'm not walking around wasting time on scrolling the internet. I also get more done at home. It's very nice not to read and check Instagram. I live my life and try to turn my season around.
Expressen (the newspaper) followed EP40 during the games against Anaheim and Los Angeles and it looked like he found a way out of the valley.
– Yes, it feels better now. I had a few scoring chances, but lost the puck against the Kings, but overall I think we played well defensively against a hard to play against Kings and drove the play for the most part.
How good is this years Canucks?
– I believe very much in us. We know we are good and when everyone is rolling and feel how good we were last year, then we are hard to beat. But we need to stay humble. And I think we starting to find our game as a team.
4 Nations Face-Off in february. How much do you want to be there?
– Very much. It's been many years since we had best on best hockey.
Could you see yourself playing on the wing if there are too many centers in team Sweden?
– I can play anywhere, just as long Im on the ice.
Sorry for the english and the formatting. I'm not a very regular poster on reddit. Peace!

Next: hit the gym, hire a lawyer.
Atta boy. Takes a ton of discipline and willpower to remove your social media stuff from your phone.
Mature move Petey. Us plebs on the interwebs are awful
this is great! there are some ruthless comments and discussions on instagram and especially on his instagram page
He always gives his most illuminating interviews to the Swedes ha. I STILL struggle with this conflict between knee tendonitis and not working hard enough. Tocchet even said Petey was ‘rolling up his sleeves’ now and never mentions that he’s working through something. Water under the bridge once this period is over but it’s odd stuff.
Atta be, Petey!
No more Warzone streams with Adam Gaudette?
He has the mentality of a winner.
Let’s stop and acknowledge the fact this guy just turn 26 years old 2 days ago. He has money and status, yet he isn’t wasting time flexing on the internet. What he said over a year ago about being on a winning team is consistent to his own behavior. His parents must be so proud of him.
I think he’ll win a Cup in his prime.
That’s for the best, a cocky/confident Petey is an amazing hockey player.
Good!
Thank you so much for translating this!
The fact that he has to do this is kinda sad…. The losers that harass people on social media should just fuck off.
I remember seeing a video of Malkin missing an open net on a 2 on 1 or a 2 on 0 and everyone on the bench was like “how do you miss that?” And a few other things. Then there’s Crosby who says “come on guys, he knows. You think he doesn’t feel bad about it? He knows. Give him a tap and some encouragement, we’ll have another chance.”
Which brings me back to this. To all the clowns shitting on Pettersson for not producing, do you think he doesn’t know? Do you really think he doesn’t know? He’s probably beating himself up enough already and definitely doesn’t need a bunch of internet trolls doing it for him. He’s not the first person to struggle to produce on this team and he won’t be the last so shut the fuck up about it. Everyone and I mean everyone goes through dry spells or times where they struggle.
I love this level of accountability. Cheering for you petey. Lfg.
Curious does sweden have a depth of centers? I looked up the projected line up from Athletic and it was Zibanejd, EP40, Karlsson, Erikson Ek, with Elias Lindholm as wing. Maybe Zibanejd might get moved to wing with his current slump?
Champion mentality.
Good for him, we could all use a little less social media.
I know that’s ironic since I’m expressing my opinion through it.
Really liked EP40’s game this last week, hope it keeps working for him.
First Brennan Johnson, now EP40. Deleting social media the new meta
Thank you for translating the interview. I always wonder what is being said as there are usually no subtitles and sadly I struggle learning new languages.
I do think no social media is the best for Petey. Or he should just have private accounts following people he personally knows. The sports world is very loud when annoyed/mad and it can be really damaging to players when they get wrapped up in it. I’m proud he has decided to take a step back and focus on what he personally wants to do (improve his game). He’s been having good games lately and he is right the points will come
I think Canucks fans should just start learning Swedish at this point with how many Swedish players we have had 😅
Skulle du vilja skicka hela artikeln på svenska? Jag vill inte uppgradera mitt konto 🙏
WERE SO FUCKING BACK BABY
Good move for anyone that age, particularly a super public sports star whether they’re struggling or thriving.
Tack så mycket, OP. I appreciate the translation!
Good for him. Social media is a destroyer of mental health and productivity. Other than this god awful version of Reddit I don’t use any social media either.
Removing social media is the best move he could make. Staying away from all the negativity keeps him locked in and focused. You can really see the difference in his game lately—he’s playing more aggressive, more focused, and just looks genuinely happy out there.
Did the same thing in 2021 during COVID after a 3 hour doomscrolling session, just went cold turkey and never went back. Did wonders for my mental health. I only partake in healthy conversation and consumption on Reddit now.
“Comparison is the thief of joy.”
“Never take criticism from people you would never go to for advice.”
“It’s very nice not to read and check Instagram” 🙁
“I have removed all social media… except r/canucks”
Can’t believe he removed all social media. I could never d…
I’m surprised he had it tbh.
