The Cincinnati Reds are going to be broadcast by MLB in 2025. They’re the 7th team in MLB’s broadcasting portfolio, joining Arizona, Cleveland, Colorado, Milwaukee, Minnesota and San Diego.

  1. From @Reds:

    > [“Partnering with Major League Baseball ensures a bright future for our televised game coverage,” said Phil Castellini, Reds President and CEO. “This collaboration provides fans with unprecedented access to Reds games, including direct-to-consumer streaming with no blackouts, while maintaining traditional cable and satellite TV options. And, having MLB’s production expertise and resources behind every Reds game broadcast ensures our fans will have a quality viewing experience.”](https://x.com/Reds/status/1857133809713500539)

  2. It will probably be called Reds.TV, which will be a separate subscription from MLB.TV. So, even if you get a free subscription from T-Mobile, you’ll still need a subscription. Additionally, people who still have cable/satellite may also be able to watch the games on special pop-up channels

  3. Reach of 1.1 million on the traditional RSN model is completely pathetic. I can’t believe that lasted as long as it did.

  4. Good for the fans from an access point of view, but are these seven teams missing out on those lucrative TV contracts now? How can a team like the Reds hope to compete with the Dodgers, who get paid $334M per year for broadcasting rights?

  5. I didn’t want to get my hopes up because this was the best outcome imo. Now I just hope they confirm that they are keeping the same broadcast team.

Maybe the rumors about Votto coming back could be about him being in the both instead of Larkin??? I would 100% be good with that. Everyone else though I really hope they keep.

  6. I live out of market. Does that mean I can buy the reds streaming package only instead of all MLB.tv? That would be epic but I won’t be surprised if I have to get the entire package

  7. Welcome back YouTube tv. I missed you.

Honestly down the road I might be able to make antenna + streaming work if college sports can get onto streaming, but feels awesome to dump directv stream.

  8. If the Castellini’s are getting a check directly from MLB for their broadcast rights, I don’t want to hear them complain anymore about not having enough money to pay players.

My dream would be for Cincinnati billionaire Vivek Ramaswamy to take over ownership. Someone with deep pockets and a connection to the city.

  9. I’m in Nashville and all the games were blacked out here on MLBTV. Does this mean I can watch them with the MLBTV subscription?

  10. So if they’re on cable, what channel? I’ve got YouTubeTV and it would be great if i can just watch them on that. i’ll still pay if i need to to get them on the mlb app but since i’m already paying for YouTubeTV that would be ideal

  11. Living in Florida I wish there was a way to just subscribe to the Reds games and not have to subscribe to the entire MLB.

  12. “Increased access like in-game interviews with players” sounds kinda like the worst of the bad ESPN telecasts… but, y’know, one monumental pain in the ass at a time. At least we might be free from the damn Bally bar ADHD at the bottom now.

  13. Thank god. I haven’t been able to make it to a game in a while, but according to blackout restrictions, I’m right there in-market in Indianapolis. This rocks.
