[Fireside Yankees] Brendan Donovan is an INCREDIBLE utility piece that the Yankees’ have been rumored to acquire for awhile, and is coming off a SOLID 2024πŸ‘€

115 wRC+ | 3.2 fWAR | .342 OBP | 73 RBI

Should New York pursue him this winter?

  1. We have Oswaldo at home, we need less utility players and more good players who specialize in a position

Edit: I thought originally Donovan was a FA, and wasn’t worth it because of the $/possible bidding war for the upgrade at a utility spot.

  2. Obviously, but a cost controlled above average hitter that plays multiple premium positions is going to need a decently large trade package to acquire

  3. Brendan Donovan would cost a fair amount in prospects. He’s like Luis Arraez-lite as a singles hitter. Except he has power and can play defense too.

  4. I’ve wanted Donovan for a while.

He’s a career .280, 116 OPS+ hitter who gives plus defence in left right and third and average defence at second and short.

He’s a lefty too and if you look at his expected home runs by stadium, he goes from 14 home runs this year to 19 at Yankee stadium
