12. Rui has the appropriate attitude.  The NBA Cup only exists so that Silver could sell the naming rights and some extra ads.

    A mid-season tournament is not a bad idea in and of itself.  But the execution of it by the NBA made it into a shameless cash grab for everyone involved.

    Have a Squid Game piggy bank hanging over center court. Every bucket and assist money drops in the bank. But every block, steal, forced 24 second, gives more cash as an incentive to play D. At the start of the 4th just make a spectacle of the entire prize money dumping into the bank on top of the money accumulated so far. Completely Vegas baby.

I do feel like the old men who yell at clouds have a point when they say these guys don’t realize how good they have it and they don’t have to work as hard as they did back then to get a good contract. Role players needed jobs outside of NBA careers to make ends meet at times so this attitude is kind of a slap in the face to the old heads.
