Penguins late start dooms them against Detroit

The Penguins’ late starts once again came back to haunt them in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Detroit Red Wings. Patrick and Hunter discuss the overtime loss to Red Wings and while they’re still losers in four of their past five games, the effort against Detroit was much better and potentially something to build upon as they look forward to matchups with Columbus and San Jose this weekend. Next, Blake Lizotte’s rotten injury luck continued on Wednesday night and this led to the call-up of forwards Matt Nieto and Vasily Ponomarev.   4. I was actually shocked at the Pens start last night. You'd think after the Dallas game the Pens would come out with some fire under them but nope, in the first period they were just as lifeless as they always are. Honestly I think Dubas is just delaying the inevitable. Sullivan is gonna get canned eventually, this team is bad and coaches are always the first fall guy. Dubas should just do it and get it over with instead of continuously kicking the can down the road.

  5. CORE fantasy trades: Crosby to Vancouver for Elias Pettersson. Pens get younger and skilled. JT Miller, 87, and Tocchet go for the Cup. Malkin (50% retained) and Sam Poulin to the Caps for Connor McMichael and Ryan Leonard and a contract, Pens get younger. Geno assists Ovechkin. Letang to Montreal for Logan Mailloux or Arber Xhekaj. Keep EK65 until someone trades for him at a trade deadline 50% retained at the end of his contract. Why? He thrives on crap teams with 1 good offensive defenseman. Trade Rutger McGroarty to the Ducks for Trevor Zegras. Rutger plays with his buddy Cutter on the Ducks. Zegras is the Pens 2nd center. Or Crosby to the Habs for Demidov. ANYWAYS GAVIN MCKENNA HERE WE COME BABY!!! Marcus Pettersson (50% retained) will be traded for an actual asset. Pens will need to replace Pettersson on the left side. Grzylek SUCKS and is worthless. Jarry led the league in shutouts last year playing for a bum club. He actually has value if someone sees it. Elias Pettersson, Trevor Zegras, McMichael, Leonard, Xhekaj and "Gavin McKenna" + whatever else the Pens get from guys like DOC would instantly be a rebuild from a purposeful FIRE SALE.

  6. I think that the Pittsburgh Penguins should play in the same way that the Winnipeg Jets does (which might represent the future of hockey offence). Note that Winnipeg is not a young team.

  7. It's crazy the penguins have become the type of team you just hope plays a competitive game and look for positives in losses. I know a lot penguins fans are angry and disgusted with the team but the fall from grace happens to all dynasties. Im really interested in the pens-sharks game. Looking forward to seeing what macklin celebrini and will smith can do
