Can the coaches, players, GM honestly say “Yes, I deserve to keep my job”?

  1. Player development within the organization needs to be overhauled. With as bad as they’ve been and all the draft capital they’ve gotten how are the Gulls as bad as the Ducks? Seattle is in its infancy as an organization and they are better than us at the NHL and AHL levels

  2. That’s actually not the worst thing considering how young the team is and that it’s year two of this regime’s rebuild.

Middle of the pack xGF is nice to see. The xGA is not surprising in the slightest when you’ve had LaCombe and Luneau on the ice for considerable minutes. And McTavish gets considerable minutes. And the defense in general is very young.

  3. It’s a hard league to win in. This season we all had high hopes, but not high expectations. I am disappointed to say the least but I still believe Cronin has the right to coach the rest of this season to start showing us something.

  4. This probably isn’t the place for this, but I only just realised the Ducks didn’t qualify Tracey.

Bit of a shame he didn’t pan out – obviously he was a boom or bust pick, but it hurts that we couldn’t get a single game out of a first-rounder.

  5. Unpopular take, there isn’t a single coach that can get this team to the playoffs for the next 2-3 seasons, even with our abnormally good goaltending tandem of Gibson/Dostal. Some of our prospects are overvalued for their achievements in minor/junior leagues and all-star game shootout contests and may never be the top pairing players we were hoping for. The free agents we brought in were never intended to be high value for this team, and are mostly just warm bodies to fill roster spots while we continue to draft and develop. Cronin isn’t great, but he knows more about hockey than everyone in this sub complaining about him being the main reason we’re losing games. Getzlaf retired with gas still in the tank, went on the Missin Curfew podcast and spoke highly of Bruce, Randy and Terry, and then proceeded to say the youth is wimpy and difficult to motivate now and used his own son as an example. My presumption is we have a lot of younger players that are very talented, but aren’t competitive or hungry to win.

  6. The numbers just show what we’ve known all along. This team has been relatively unlucky on the offensive side of the puck. And that goaltending has been holding us up from being blown out.

This probably shows that the offensive system is not good but also not terrible and the players are getting their looks but not finishing. Hopefully this turns around because the start to the season has been horrible for everyone.
