I don’t exactly rely on Bleacher Report for nuanced analysis, let alone reasonable takes, but putting Cleveland at #2 in the power rankings they just published today is completely asinine. Especially behind Boston, who have lost 3 times including to an ATL team without Trae Young

  1. How do you define power rankings? Is it solely who had the best record or who are the best teams?

Because if it’s the best team, you’d be a fool to bet on Cleveland to win a 7 game series over Boston.

Do I think it’s impossible? Absolutely not. But I wouldn’t put Cleveland as favorites either

  2. Honestly if they do who they actually think the best team is when healthy then Boston makes sense. Until proven otherwise in the playoffs Boston is better than Cleveland.

  3. It’s asinine? I believe the Celtics are currently the World Champions. Just look at the Standings if that’s what you’re looking for.

  4. Seems like what you want is the NBA standings where you may notice the Cavaliers are #1.

Power ranking the reigning champs at #1 is totally reasonable, now when we stomp the Celtics on their court next week we can argue about being #1 in power rankings

  5. This gets a lot more clicks and attention than doing the obvious. It’s why all these list include an obviously misplaced team or player. To drum up interactions.

  6. I’m not ready to call us the best team until we beat the Celtics Tuesday. I’m not just gonna forget how they torched everyone on the way to an easy chip.

We have a lot to prove still.

  7. If you think the Cavs are better, go ahead and bet on them to win the championship. Show us your receipts.

  8. Boston is gonna be favored when we play them. And power rankings are an opinion. Definitely not crazy .

  9. Well, clearly this bothered you enough to post. If you power ranked all 30 teams, I’m sure many people would disagree with you too. Don’t dwell on it. These ranks only exist for conversation. Otherwise, what fun is staring at the standings?

  10. I love the Cavs, but can we pump the brakes on being pissed off that they haven’t been crowned best in the NBA after a small sample size against mediocre teams?

  11. People should stop caring about those lists. They won’t start playing worse because someone decided they are not better than Boston. If anything, this is just fuel for them.

  12. Honest question: If the defending champs are going to be power ranked #1 until they lose in the playoffs and the regular season barely matters, why release power rankings every 4 days during the regular season?

  13. The best part about power rankings is they literally mean nothing. Only W/L record matters it’s not college

  14. If we were the defending Champs, and the Celtics were 13-0, we’d be clowning them for complaining about power rankings in mid-November. Just enjoy the streak, cheer on our boys, support the team if they hit a slump or get injured, don’t call for anyone’s job, and always remember the most important thing about being a Cavs fan: Fuck Kelly Olynyk.
